I've tried several different oils in the K20. Just use any 5w30 if you drive conservatively. For regular VTECing, I do recommend you use at least an OTC synthetic (Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, etc). Pennzoil Platinum can be had for a very attractive price during promotional sales.
I use 195W-385 weight oil for peace of mind. I have a stage 9 aftermarket kit, which raised my redline to 22,000rpms. I also enjoy redlining as soon as I start my car every morning. Even if I don't plan on going anywhere.

If I mix two quarts of 170W-360 with three quarts of 195W-385, do I end up with 185W-375?

My experience between the Amsoil XL 5w30 and the Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 has led me to stock up on PP at promotional price or buy 5 quart jug at Walmart and save some $ over the Amsoil XL, a very good oil. PP is a great retail syn oil value, esp. at $3/qt. (or less) at promotional prices, and capable of longish drain intervals.

The engines life prolly will be in operational cycles over the lube oil used. Take into consideration the miles of the oil changes. Oils are really good .
I just looked at the Amsoil tests and the 3 top rated synthetics were amsoil,mobil ep,and pp. So a swag would be any of those 3 brands would not harm your car. Why did not amsoil test the regular m1?
