Civic Si

I have a 2010 Honda Civic Si with 95 000KM on it. Warrenty is up and want to do my own oïl change now. Looking to moving to full synthetic oïl. The best bargain I can have is at Canadian Tire either the Mobil 1 5w30 or Pennzoil Platinum 5w30. Witch one would be better?

The car is mostly driven by my wife so nothing crazy. I'm from New Brunswick Canada, so we do get cold weather in the winter. We do about 75 city and 25 highway...

You will certainly get many recommendations but, picking between the 2 oils, I prefer Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 over Mobil 1 5W30 as the Mobil 1 causes my engines to be more audible. Or as some say, NOISY! You'll have to try both and too, there are other brands as well which are held in high regard but, you only asked about the two.

My daughters 2009 Civic runs like a dream on any synthetic. So shop for price. Fram filters work just fine.

The car is driven by your wife and you ask witch one? Nice. Can't go wrong with either of your choices. Whichever is cheaper IMO.

Filter choice is likely more important. Can you get Honda Filtech?

I usually get the high end Carquest filter, there supposed to be made by Wix...

In Canada, go for Amsoil, it's so similar in price(in fact cheaper alot of the time, if bought from a dealer) for a superior product. I recommend signature series 0w30 AZO & EaO oil filter, or fram ultra, but you may as well get the preferred customer # and just get amsoil oil & filter.

I'm a fan of Amsoil, but the price compared to PP or Mobil 1 when I get it in special at Canadian Tire is too much of a difference.

Buy jug of Mobil 1 from Walmart.

Either one will do just fine and keep your Si running for a very long time.

What about the Petro Canada 0w30? is it more expensive there than Mobil and Pennzoil?

of the two you mentioned I would prefer Mobil 1, PP is a excellent as well. as many have said either is more than sufficient.

Whatever is the cheapest you can find at CT will do the job. As for filters, go with a FRAM TG at the very minimum if you follow the OLM as an OCI will likely exceed 8000 kms.

Looking at FRAM oïl filter at Canadian Tire and I see the Hight Milleage filter and the Synthetics filter. Witch one should I go with?

The ultra synthetic filter is there best filter. Highly recommend by people on here.

I have been running Motomaster F1 synthetic (gold bottle) in my 2010 SI for the last 2 oil changes and it has been running great. It is believed to be an equivalent to Formula Shell or at least similar.
