What is the best one available locally like from Wal-Mart or an auro parts store?

What would your recomendation be based on?

Car is a 2011 Ford Fusion 4 cyl 2.5L, 17,000 miles approx.

Thanks a lot!

There is no "best oil" since there are so many different conditions under which a vehicle is operated; 10K OCI with Mobil 1 0W-20 seems to work for tig1.

What does Ford say to run? 0W-20 or 5W-20; I am guessing that Ford states 5W-20. Assuming that you are in the central southern part of the US (Ozarks), I would say that a 5W-20 would suit you best.

WM has QSUD, PP, PU, M1, and Syntec all in synthetics that are quite competitive in pricing against the auto parts stores.

Their is no best. Some engines respond better to one and some to another.

If you are going to follow the OLM (You should since you are still under warranty) then I would go with Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W20 in the 5 quart jug as its generally the cheapest at WalMart and has more than enough reserve capacity to handle that and then some.

M1 0-20 has been outstanding in both Duratechs at 10K OCIs. Both engines are as clean as new through the oil fill hole.

there are so many good choices. warranty specs 5w20 so start there .

mc semi is fine and cheap. Ford dealers use it.
That engine is easy on oil.
Take your pick of the mid-priced synthetics.
M-1 is as good as it gets.

M1 0W20 in a five qt jug for under $27 seems like the bargain to me. That recommendation is based on experience with the oil (note Tig's experience referenced in this thread) and the price. You should be able to do a 10K oci if your driving isn't ll in town.

I've tried Pennzoil Platinum/Ultra, Castrol Edge and M1 in our 05 TL in 5W-20 and 0W-20. As far as wear is concerned there won't be any appreciable difference, but M1 produces more noise and some consumption compared to the others. The noise issue tends to be true across all their grades as many have noted over the years. They are great oils, it's just a particular characteristic. My favorite is Pennzoil Plat/Ultra, now also available in 0W-20 at Walmart. If they had an A40/229.5 oil as good as M1 0W-40 I'd be all over it for my Prelude.

Walmart around here only has Mobil-1 and SynPower in 0w-20.

I have to agree all protect so close to the same when comparing wear metals. Oils perform so well I just buy the 5W-20 that cost around 3 dollars without a mail in rebate and change the oil when the owners manual tells me to.

You're under warranty and have to change your oil within the manufacture's recommendation for your type of driving. It looks like you drive enough miles to easily use any quality 5W-20 "non full synthetic" spec'd oil for your vehicle. It doesn't look like you do a lot of "city" driving with those yearly miles. Using a synthetic during the warranty period seems like a waste of money due to the OCI's required, but that's your call. After the warranty use synthetic and enjoy longer OCI's. That's what I did and my Ford Contour 2.0 Zetec 4 with 92,000+ miles is still like new in the head, no varnish.

I have seen more than a few Ford owners manuals recommending 10K OCI's, Ford recommended a 7.5K OCI on my cars.

Sounds like MC 5-20 and a MC filter or P1 filter would work out quite well for you.

If you can't decide between the two, just mix them!!

Obvious choice:

PYB 5W20

Mobil 1, because it's the cheapest name brand in a 5-quart jug at Wal-Mart. Good enough for me.

I like Kendall GT-1 full syn as well, but am no longer patient enough to go to Pep Boys.

I was using Motorcraft full syn a lot, but for some reason it's harder to find these days, so Mobil 1.

My recommendation is based on a 120K mile engine that runs awesome with lots of towing, lots of high RPM use, and general abuse. Still runs like a champ everyday, not a puff of smoke out of the exhaust, winds right up to 5000+ RPM and sounds happy doing it.
