If your using an upper cylinder lubricant product such as Lucas or Redline, do the benefits of the lube continue for a while after use ?, or does it just burn off quickly. I'd like to run it every few tanks of gas rather than every tank. On one of my cars I had some plugs foul recently and I'm not sure if it was due to the UCL I was using. The plugs weren't very old. I thought I would perhaps cut back on the use of UCL.

One second question is, how could UCL increase the burn power of the fuel like they claim, and increase fuel economy. Most people say the products are made of light oil, I would think that it is less powerful of a burn compared to pure fuel mixture. What do you guys think ?, thanks for any replies.

Well, I think the fact that gas can be used as a carrier for it would mean that the next untreated gas would wash it away fairly quickly.

If you really need to use it, what about using it all the time, but less? Or, if you're doing something that you're uncertain about the benifits but somewhat suspect of it causing a problem, maybe quit cold turkey?

I had problems with MMO fouling injectors on my yaris so I quit cold turkey that was 2oz/gal which may be too strong. May be a couple oz / tank non detergent 30wt would be safest.

Q- Is the ashless 2-stroke oil just void of sulfated ash? I assume you need some other organo metallic EP and detergent? Then this is no good in the pass car with a post treatment cat.

That is something becaue I can add a complte quart to my Camrys fuel and never have any problems in fact it runs better and get's better mialge. Then again I do not do it often so your 2 onces a gallon constantly was probably a lot more over the course of a year. I seldom do MMO in my fuel more then twice a year! In fact I only run a fuel injector cleaner about twice a year as well. About every six months! I can feel the car's performance degrade over a six month time frame so I know it would like to have injector cleaner int heir more often I just have never been one to use a lot of injector cleaner's. usualya round 120,000 miles I take the car to the dealership and let them clean the injectors.Usualy when I get some place between 200,000 to 300,000 I pull the old injectors and replace them with new injectors and injector seals.Ihave never had one fail on a Toyota but if I have topull the injector to replace the seals I am just going to replace them too. I am kind of lazy like that. By the time you have that type of milage often after market injectors are not much more then $65 per injector which is cheap.

It had to be something other than the MMO that fouled the injectors, especially at such a low dose. I did something close to 1.5 qts in a 20 +/- gallon fuel tank in my Aerostar and it ran nicely, nice smooth idle. My son added a qt to the gas in his BMW before each 6 month deployment to Afghanistan and the car never ran better. My thoughts are it was a coincidence, but then again who knows.

Cheap? It probably cost the mfg. about $5-6 to make those injectors. There is an incredible mark up for aftermarket injectors.

You said 2oz/per gallon of gas? Then you overdosed. It should be 4oz per 10 gallons. You can go less per 10 gallons, I typically do 3oz per 10 gallons.

Good catch there! That would explain a lot of things!

If you read the instructions on the bottles it indicates adding it to you gas every fill-up so it's lasting effects must be kept-up always. I hope gasolines have some form of this additive as a government standard but who know and at what percentages to make any difference I can't really say.

IMO there will be some residual UCL in the system diluted by the addition of the fresh gas. It works best when added to every tank full, but I also think that people tend to round the dosage up, so lets say an ideal ratio is 400:1, it could easily become 300:1, then 250:1 after a few tank of gas, and MPG's could suffer as a result.

If you really want to go nuts, try this method: Wait till you have 1/4 tank of gas and find out the amount of gas it takes to fill you from that point. You should be +/- a gallon or so when you fill up. Before filling add your UCL dosage less 1 ounce, then fill the tank. Now add any remaining amount of UCL to get to the desired ratio. That will help stop an eventual OD of UCL. We all seem to be a little OCD when it comes to these things, but this suggestion might help.

4oz per 14.5 gallon tank is about right in my car, however the fillups only take about 11-12 gal when the low fuel light comes on, so there are still over 2 gal left with UCL. I just keep adding 4oz per fillup, and every 5 or so fillups I run gas only, which should get rid of most of the UCL from the system, I then resume my normal doses.
