Went for a walk w/ the dog today around the house to check out any Hurricane Sandy damage and found this. Old, hollow basswood tree. Then I looked inside...pics coming...

This is the end result. Not much but mmmmmmm goooood and sticky too! About 43F so no stings either.

My wife had me use our truck ties downs to strap her hives down.

Those poor bees are going to die as they typically die of moisture in the winter not temperature.

Take the honey.
 
Neat find! Good stuff.

Bees are critical, I cringe when people spray them with poison because of the nuissance.
