Beano

Gas is produced when we don't fully digest our food. Beans are a notable food, for this.
Adding enzymes to our diet is good, especially as we get older - they help digest food and extract more nutrients, and attenuate gas. Health food stores carry all sorts of products for this.
Who knows what type and quality of enzymes are in the Beano, though.

Sounds like it's time for an enema!

I've had a bad stomach ever since a nasty episode of food poisoning in 1998.

Yeah, I used to have a real "pig's stomach" until I got an enteritis (inflammation of the intestine) from food poisoning in '97. I was violently ill with cramps and bloody... never mind. Of course I never went to see a doctor (Only over my very dead body!), which was really clever. Anyway, for over two weeks I was practically living on the hopper. Out of fear of losing something at one end or the other, I couldn't leave the house for a month. Ever since, my intestine is very fragile and tends to go bad only at the sight of suspect food. As for flatulence issues, let's just say I feel very sorry for Ms moribundman -- she's a real trooper.

I laughed so hard after reading this!!!

To keep things flowing try pure cranberry juice. That stuff is dangerous...

You can also try about 48 oz. of apple juice. Ask me how I know.

With heart/liver failure (and the brain fahrts my posts tend to reveal), consideration of one's gut is no laughing matter . . er, fahrts can tend to have "consequences" they didn't usta.

I've heard from others that Beano works okay. I stick with the daily dose of fiber pills and OTC probiotics and it works wonders when I don't overindulge.

Oh no, I just recovered from a bout with food poisoning (as did my co-workers who ate with me at that dang restaurant). Worst experience of my life. I've never been that sick.

I hope it didn't cause any permanent damage, but things still don't feel 100%. I didn't have an iron gut to begin with.

If anybody is having GI problems, you should try a probiotic. They're usually about $10 a bottle, and found in the refrigerated section of the store. (Probiotics are little pills of the "good" bacteria your body uses.)

I think it's kind of dumb to take them all the time, but this last winter, I had to go on an antibiotic (for a respiratory infection), and when you do that, it kills off some of the good bacteria in your system too. I went on one for about a month, and I **** like clockwork now. I think pretty much any brand is fine, but get one with a mix of strains (L. acidophilus, B. bifidus, L. bulgaricus etc.) and check the expiration date.

I'm in the middle of having what some here have mentioned...

Back just after Christmas, I got a bad stomach... not too painful, but the results werent fun...

Since then it has come back to haunt me a few times, for unknown reasons...

Now I have a bad case of something or other, I dont know what it is, but my stomach has really been bothering me... It has been very sensitive these last few months (actually, its the intestine that is sensitive, but its all the same).

My only saving grace is that I eat a lot of bacteria and cultures... i.e. yogurt, so it keeps me realtively healthy... but my digestion is nowhere as fast or robust as it used to be, even when I eat lots of oats.

Seriously, those with digestive problems should up their yogurt intake significantly...

Too much beano can make you strain and blow out an "O" ring.

And these days it costs a ton to get it put back in.
