Battery terminal eyelets too large?

Sorry for the super elementary question here…

I’m installing a maintainer and the eyelets are a little big for the posts. They are small enough to not slip over the nuts, but there is quite a bit of play. Is there a solution to this, or is wrenching it down gonna me ok?

How about a washer?

Pinch it firmly w/the nut and it will be fine. Alternatively, add a washer if you feel the need.

Get a washer. If that oversized hole gets jarred, everything in that fastener, including the original stuff, becomes a loose connection. Alternatively, could you put the other wire, that's under the charging one, on top of it, so it sandwiches it all together?

Washer or swap out for a flange nut

Go for the 'homemade' look.....get a piece of old copper plumber's strap (just one hole's worth)

I know it's just a maintainer but it looks there are other cables attached under it.

Can you modify the maintainer cable with a properly sized ring terminal? If not, can you stack the maintainer cable under the other ring terminals?

Seriously, when you settle on a plan, give the 'assembly' a shot of 5-56 (superior rust preventative suitable to outdoor electrics).
