Dilemma.

1991 Caprice, 305, Power everything.

If I use the power window a lot, it stops working, especially @ low speeds. After I drive around a bit, it works again. I think there is a problem with the alternator/battery setup (no ALT light is on)

Any chance if an alternator was installed without the proper AMPS output, it might cause this?

Any help appreciated.

If battery got that low from power window, hi ac would zap it also. Look for bad ground inside door.

It would probably start misfiring if the battery voltage ever got so low that the power window doesn't work.

I'd check for a poor connection that is overheating when you use the window a lot.

Its the window motor and/or track. Make sure the glass is in the track properly. All GMs do this after a while

I think a some power windows use a time-delay circuit breaker (CB) type of protection, so if for example you hold the switch down with the window all the way up or down, the circuit breaker trips on thermal overload before any real damage is done. But the CB will reset automatically after the cool enough.

Maybe, if your vehicle has such overload protection, the CB is getting weak and tripping prematurely, or who knows, with age, maybe the window motors are drawing more current or something. Just a possible guess. Louis

P-Pine gets the gold star. Problem was the inside rubber window wiper was folding over and jamming the window causing the CB to trip. Problem occured when low temps made the rubber was less pliable.
