Bar's Leak rear main seal conditioner...

No dice here. Ended up spending $700 to have the RMS on the Burb replaced. The starter doesn't look nearly sexy enough when it is covered in oil. Then again, I only used 1/2 a dose.

You can have the remaining 1/2 container if you want to super dose.

Most seal "conditioners" ruin the rubber over time.You get a short lived ballooning,and then the seal is damaged."seal swell" treatments that are what's already added to motor oils (but in this case larger quantities) are the only safe way to go.
 
I had a 1981 Omega with the 2.8 V6, the rear seal was the rope type and was leaking at maybe a quart per 500 miles. Enough so it would smoke on the exhaust. My mechanic tried 1 bottle of some GM sealer of some sort, fixed it nearly 100% for next 3 years i had the car.
 
Bar's Products,buying out Rislone,and adding all sorts of stop leak additives as of late for nearly every disaster (except brake fluid leaks and gas tank leaks) has taken on the image of snake oil producer.Of course,the original products,ground up glass/aluminum-copper powder....is no mechanic in a can either.
 
I remember one brands "Super Oil Saver" (cant remember if it was Chrysler or GM) was basically thick sludge like STP.
 
Mobil 1 High Mileage. No change in oil consumption after a couple of thousand miles. Rate=1 quart in 200 miles or so, depending on the driving. Poured in the Bar's Leak seal conditioner today. Waiting to check results. I will give it another couple of thousand miles to see.

Synthetic oil has all the seal conditioners you need. But give it a chance to work. Forget the snake oil. And remember if the seal or shaft is damage, all bets are off.

Will take up to 5k to see any results from the extra seal conditioners/swellers and cleaners in M1 High Mileage (or any High Mileage oil) if its deposits or shrunken rubber valve seals causing oil consumption. That rate of consumption suggests mechanical, rings, etc. where only a teardown or a thick dino, thick High Mileage oil will slow it (a little).

ATP 205 stopped a leak in the th400 in my Buick. It did not have any effect on the rear main seep or valve cover leak in my engine though. I have found that Defy oil has done a pretty good job at stopping the leaks in my engine.

I have read in a couple different places that ATP 205 works very well on rubber seals and can possibly damage plastic/nylon type seals but I am not a chemist so.....
 
ATP-205 is clear liquid with viscosity that of water. It did NOT work for rubber o-ring but worked great for the main seal in the same lawnmower.

Yes and it does nothing.

The best is ATP 205 ReSeal

It will stop a Rear main seal in a few miles

Its a plastazier... its not Snake oil

I have used this myself and it works and have seen many others use it and it works.
I have seen it save people huge $

Some NAPAs have it right on the shelf (or can order it in), and I've seen it on the shelf of some of the very few mom and pop indie parts stores left in existence.
