Increasing Transmission Fluid viscosity to help with shudder?

Yea I have been a lubeguard user of the red for a while but the platinum was impressive. The only reason I didn’t add more was I was concerned of slippage. I was looking for increased pressure in valve body and TC from the pump I thought increase the pressure by increasing viscosity would help. It did but more lubeguard might have too. The transmission 6f35 usually gets a shudder issue around the 100000-150000 miles from the other people complaining online. Me I was chasing it down for a while I thought it was suspension or tire related and then I realized once I let off throttle the vibrations went away and then started down the shudder path. It running normal now but it was driving me nuts for a little while.

You can safely run 2 oz per quart in transmissionmissions with know shudder issues.
This is from lubegard not me.

I had the red in from about 50000 miles and was pretty good with drain and fills a few times between 50000 and 150000 and added the red each time. It had the red in when shudder started but platinum took majority of it away. Yea Not sure I would use it without shudder even though it worked decent here.

Hello this is my first post.

Purpose- is to thicken my transmission fluid to help with a shudder. To slightly increase pressure in valve body and TC

Vehicle-2013 ford edge 150000 miles with shudder 40mps to 60mps. I did Mercon Lv drain and fill 3-times.

Already in fluid is lubeguard platinum about 15ozs and it has improved 75% of shutter. I will not add more because I’m worried about slippage and the existing seal conditioners in platinum.

Question I want to thicken my fluid without additional leak stop or seal conditioners. This rules out Lucas transmission fix which would thicken my Mercon LV but may effect seals. I am considering Lucas engine oil Stabilizer or LM Visco plus in 5 oz increments. Does anyone want to discuss or have an opinion on this idea?

I believe a slight increase in pressure will help this transmission.
Lubeguard helped somewhat with harsh shifting on my cavalier but it won't fix bad engine or transmission mounts.

Update to increase the pressure in my TC and valve body I ended up using Lucas Transmission fix. The bottle is 24oz I ended up using half the bottle.

My shudder is gone completely even driving up incline.

Overall I did 3 drain and fills with Mercon LV and added 15oz lube guard platinum. That was a big improvement to about 75 percent shudder removed I was only getting shudder up hill. After about 400 miles I added the Lucas which is a very thick additive. My shudder is completely gone at this point.

Would love to be able to get 20-30k miles without a shudder returning. Replacing TC is not in the budget

Thanks for everyone posting. Im assuming the shudder will eventually return at some point.

Glad to hear you have things operating well. TCC shudder issues are often due to wear in the TCC control valve bore. If the shudder returns, I would look at a valve body repair kit. Sonnax and TransGo both make kits for your valve body.
