Marine grease against transmission fluid?

Good Morning guys and gals.
I'm hoping this is a simple yes/no question, but is there really such a thing on the internet? haha

I have a semi steering gear box which is seeping oil (transmission fluid) around the steer shaft.
I've replaced the seal once already and it is still seeping enough to create a puddle over a few day span.
I have another seal kit I'm going to put into it, but I was unable to find a sleeve for the shaft. (I think it might be grooved)
Putting a new seal on a grooved shaft will still keep leaking.

So, under the seal, there is about a 1/4" gap between the bearing and the seal.
My idea is to fill this gap with marine grease to give it a sealing barrier so the transmission fluid doesn't even reach the seal.

The seal isn't a pressurized area.

Will the marine grease prevent the seep like I am thinking or will the transmission fluid dissolve the marine grease?

Here are the fluids I am thinking of using:

Transmission fluid = Valvoline Maxxlife ATF
Grease = Lucas Marine Grease

Yes/no question? Will the marine grease stand up against the transmission fluid?

Thanks in advance. :)

Why not get a silicone rubber washer of the right size and use it. Should cut down on the leakage and b
e lubricated by the ATF liquid.
