P/S Fluid Type and Seal Life

The 996 power steering was speced for CHF 11S. It has the green o-rings (viton?). When I leaked some CHF 11S onto a regular black o-ring on another part of the engine, it did swell up massively (!), and became massively soft. Totally unusable. So I would not put 11S in an ATF PS system without knowing what all seals are made of.

The TDSes of 202 and 11S isn't completely alike, but very close. So it is not really totally the same.

In my 2021 Honda HRV it has electric steering so no fluid change...but does the rack itself have any type of fluid in it and can you or even want to change it at times...

I've used the high mileage ATF for the conditioner when replacing the power steering fluid, most my cars are Toyota's with more than 200k miles.

I've used M1 ATF in my PS pumps since M1 came out with ATF (about 30 years) and have never had one leak or fail in any way.
