I recall many bands that were big in the 1980's. Rainbow, Scorpions, Europe and many others. What bands that were big and doing great in the 80's do you remember?

Couldn't have been that big, never heard of them...

I remember lots of bands, and lots of one hit wonders, from my college days, when a bud was an FM DJ, but...

I always liked more obscure stuff though I've listened to all of the above (never was a REM or Culture Club fan)

I was much more likely to be found listening to Uriah Heap or Jimmy Dolan or Commander Cody or something though...

Bowie
Zep (this was their swansong)
Dio
Eno
Outlaws
along with all of those mentioned above.
How about a nineties thread?

The Rainbow associated bands could have had a pretty big festival themselves-Ronnie James Dio, Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Ritchie Blackmore, (& by extension) Black Sabbath-some of the best heavy metal bands ever. I actually saw Deep Purple live for the first time here in Cincinnati 2 weeks ago-Ian and company can still go!

Night Ranger, Rush, Benatar, Cars, Judas Priest, .38 Special, Journey, Van Halen, Skynnard, Pink Floyd, Styxx, Scorpians, Heart, Triumph, Molly Hatchett, Aldo Nova, Tommy Tutone, B52's, REO Chuckwagon,

Metallica, U2, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Howard Jones, Tears For Fears, Van Halen, Motley Crue, Dokken, Whitesnake, Dio, Judas Priest, Madonna, Michael Jackson, The Cars, INXS. Chicago, Billy Idol, The Fixx, Eurythmics, The Grateful Dead, Ozzy, too many to mention.
