if you can get 40+mpg with a Hemi, more power to ya...

It is a hemi...with the added benefit of 4 valves per cylinder.

I'm thinking if you're getting 40+ MPG in a Hemi, you're doing it all wrong.

Many 4 cylinder engines have hemispherical combustion chambers.

I don't think high mileage matters for gas mileage.

My 00' Camry with 229k miles can get 37 mpg on the highway, it's rated for 28.

I see it as high mileage car since it has 17oK. That's a lot of time in a 2015 car.

Many engines have been hemis, very common. Look it up on wiki, the first came in 1901 and a 4 valve hemi in 1912. People are not smarter today.

My nearly 6K lb hog of a hybrid returned 36mpg hwy today, rated to 30city/28hwy. It's all in how you drive. And the oil makes no difference, they got those numbers on 0w20, my sump has 5/7 of 10w30.

My '99 Corolla back in the day with 240xxx miles on it still did 35-38 on the highway. That was with a non-overdrive automatic and burning a quart every 1500 miles.

It's not exactly hard to get 35+ mpg in a small 4 cylinder car. The terrible excuse for a car I'm renting right now (2017 Hyundai Veloster) is averaging 32 MPG over the past 2 days, and that's with me resetting the meter on delivery AND beating the living [censored] out of it since the 1.6 with dual-clutch transmission is unbelievably overwhelmed in this chassis. It's just that good at turning RPM into movement, however slow it may be.

On the other side of that, I only see about 42 MPG with my Volt when it runs on "extended mode", aka most normal hybrids. That puts it right in the middle of the pack, mileage wise. Hybrids don't ALWAYS work out better. My pops consistently got 42-45 MPG out of his 6 speed manual Hyundai Accent, with the manual of course.

Obsolete 2-valve ones, sure. Modern ones are Pent-roof.

They are very similar, I guess you could call engine built up to the mid 90's obsolete. Technically a 4 valve hemi is possible.

The Honda RFVC is the only mass produced example I'm aware of that passes as a 4V hemi. There is a weak argument for the 5-valve Yamaha too, but it's also been made obsolete by the 4-valve pent-roof combustion chamber.
