Aux Lights!

I procrastinated on installing aux lights on my Pigs. Good riding buddy of mine took an oncoming left turn hit and has been in the hospital for the last week.

That motivated me to get it done.

Solution is under $40USD and some patience.
Parts:
H4 splitter
Lights
L bracket
Mounting screws/nylocks

Total Cost: Lights ($20), Splitter ($7), L brackets, screws, nuts ($7), shop materials (electrical tape, heat shrink connectors, etc) maybe a couple $$.

Since I'm running an LED H4 (25w), I'm going to split the H4 feed and add 13w projector lights that have low and high beam lights. This keeps the draw below the Halogen spec for that connector.

Low beam has a low cutoff, drive safe, yellow fog light to augment the LED headlight and add triangulation for visibility during the day.

On high beam the aux lights project a high beam spot down road, almost doubling the light output of headlight. This is an overlander DR, so it's not going to see tight trail runs, so positioning of the lights was less of a concern. Simply reused the stock reflector brackets and they fit perfectly with the large Acerbis tank.

Before anything went on the DR the connectors/splitters got waterproofed and oxi-guarded on the terminals. Huge output increase!

Lots of lights are good. Looks great. Triangle pattern like that helps an onlookers depth perception on how far away the bike is.
Well over a decade ago I had someone turn right in front of me, locked up the wheels, from then on, front lighting was the first thing I took care of. Even my Road King that came with "fog lights" on the side. I installed bright yellow instead. Together with the bright halogen in the middle it is easy to see.

Agreed.

Motorists that seem to be looking right at you are sometimes actually looking through you to the car behind. I am a big proponent of headlight triangulation and this is an older pic but still the setup on my BMW.

Looks very nice. Goid job with the splitter.

Yes, that is it exactly. I'll be honest every once in a great while when I am driving I can see that happening. It makes a HUGE difference.
Since we are taking photos I just snapped this one in my garage. My bike has been collecting dust the past two years, first a new move, then a health issue to take care of this year. I hate to think it but will evaluate if I keep it next year. Most likely will once I get through this though.
Just now... (it's been a garage queen the last two years)

My other life ... every year until 2023 I think. Mountains and beaches. 3 hours west or 2 hours east.
Gosh I miss it ...Maybe next year.
