Until recently these were only available from the dealer for around $12. Then I found them at Pepboys for $8.

Now Autozone has started carrying them for $6!

These filters are used on the Ford Duratec 3.0 and I think some other applications but not sure which.

That is all.

I've never known a Ford dealer that WAS competitive (on parts)...at least not in my area.

I thought FL-1A fit everything! I use it on my Dodge 1500 and have used them on 50 year old Ford tractors.

ya thats about what we do them for too. What is hard is when there are other places selling Motorcraft parts for less than dealer cost. At least there are still some blue box parts left.

bdcardinal, I didn't mean to tar all dealers with the same brush, but my experience has been that many parts are grossly overpriced.

One example: the fuel filter clips for my Marauder. Dealer sells them for $7...each. I can buy a box of 10 at NAPA for $8.49...that's 85 cents each. Now I have to ask myself how many manufacturers of those specific nylon clips are there? I would bet they're all made at the same place, and I'll also bet that NAPA doesn't buy as many as Ford does, so how can they afford to sell them for so much less and still make a profit?

If Ford really wanted to have more people buy their parts or have their cars serviced at the dealers, you'd think they'd offer more attractive pricing.

Ford is kind of in a tough place. Part of the contracts they have with dealers is they have to be able to make money on parts. There are some parts with a 150% markup comparing MSRP to dealer cost. There are some parts, mostly body parts with a 20% markup from cost to MSRP. For example there are some tail lamps that are in the $75 range where dealer cost is around $63, there is no money in that for selling it over the counter, and then you have wholesale shops that want their customary 20% discount.
