Auto RX-what's it supposed to look like?

My ARX was "rather dark"- it may have had a reddish tint to it also but I am rather blind to that color.

It should pour smoothly- it really helps to preheat the bottle in a bowl of hot water for 10 to 15 minutes, then give 'er a good shake.

That's my experience.

That is what it looks like when it is cold ,room temp or place it in a bowl of hot water for a while and will thin out.

Pretty dark - almost black.

I have had a couple of bottles that had gold colored, sugar-sized crystals mixed all through. After seeing that, I preheated all future bottles to about 140 deg F for 20 - 30 minutes, and then shook the heck out them for several minutes.

looks like used engine oil with about 3k miles on it (from a gasoline engine). I had one customer comment as he watched me pour it in, "hey, are you sure that stuff is ok to put in my engine?" He was referring to how dark it looks compared to new engine oil. I assured him that the color was normal.

Off topic: BTW, he and his wife both commented how good the fuel economy on this 2002 325 Ci was while the ARX was in the engine. I had not even told him about that benefit or possibility. We are now using the maintenance dose in that car one year later.

It's pretty thick and dark brown. Goes in pretty slowly when cold.

OT: bmwtech, I'm noticing the same benefit on the clean cycle in my car.

mine was poured at 67 degrees F. It came out dark reddish/purple like cough syrup.

This is on http://www.auto-rx.com under FAQ .Makes no difference, what Auto-Rx looks like it is natural chemistry (no solvents-no coloring-no petrolueum based by product) You should be more interested in what Auto-Rx does. Read post above by dnewton3

Q: Using Auto-Rx in Frigid Cold Conditions
A: Auto-Rx is a highly concentrated combination of ester based cleaning components. In its concentrated form Auto-Rx is not flowable from its container below 32 degrees F. However, once dispersed into your host motor oil, it has little to no effect on the pour point of the host oil. In cold weather conditions, follow these instructions: dispense hot tap water into a bowl or container that will have adequate capacity to submerse the Auto-Rx container up to the bottle neck. Insert the bottle so that the neck is above the high water mark. Allow the bottle to stand in the warm water for 2 minutes. If the bottle of Auto-Rx has been subject to below freezing temperatures, you should repeat this process twice - refilling the hot water container and re-submersing the Auto-Rx. In the meantime, warm the motor to operating temperature. With a warm motor and Auto-Rx warmed to at least room temperature, you are ready to proceed with your Auto-Rx application.

One last thing Auto-Rx shelf life is practically forever.

The above post is for Auto-Rx stored outside or in garages in areas where it,s cold. My blender is in Michigan and last skid arriving in FL (past Friday) still very cold. Frankly just stick the bottle under hot water for 10 mnutes shake and pour in engine. Auto-Rx immeadiately takes on characteristics of your host oil.

Hash oil ..maybe "Gravy Master". Much depends on the temp at the time.

ARX is a highly concentrated formula. It should look mean and nasty enough to deal with the ugly stuff hiding in your motor. Points well taken above that ARX should be warmed up enough(ambient 68F or higher) before adding to a warm crankcase. After adding idle the motor or take a trip around the block( afew miles) to disperse in the host motor oil. Now you are good to go.
