I have had several vehicles that have responded well to 2k clean cycles and 2k+ rinse cycles. I've talked with Frank and he has had the same experience. Auto-Rx continues to work after the official rinse sequence and continues to clean for several thousand more miles. This brings up the idea that one should use convention oil for a bit longer than the standard rinse cycle to gain the full benefit of the cleaning that Auto-Rx can do if the car normally runs on synthetic oil. If you come after someone that has used a solvent it's important to use Auto-Rx to remove it as quickly as possible. Solvents do not leave an engine well when the oil is drained and continue to work. This can lead to long term problems that are often not traced back to the solvent but are blamed on wear and tear. It looks like according to Frank that Auto-Rx instructions will be adjusted based on experience with the product. I like the idea that Frank responds to users and the feedback he receives.

Interesting news- thanks for sharing it. Makes me want to run a second, follow-up ARX treatment in my Civic even though it has under 100,000 miles and just finishing its second-ever treatment.
However, isn't there still a possibility of excessively loading the oil filter on seriously-sludged engines if the miles are stretched beyond 1500? Just curious... Perhaps the new instructions will account for this "possibility" too, if it is one.

our F150 and civic are either under or just over 100k and i did 1 ARX treatment and will just continue to run synthetic in both with the "maintenance dose" in each for the next 6 or so OCI's.
Well well just what I've been telling everybody for longer than I can remember. 1,500 miles (2,300kms) is nowhere near long enough for the clean phase IMO. I run 4500-5,000kms for full clean and get fantastic results.

I believe extending the rinse phase (and probably the cleaning phase also) is a good idea. I've been experimenting with this myself, running clean and rinse phases as long as normal change intervals for cheap mineral oil, that is about 3-4000 miles.
Have had no problems with this, but a potential problem would be oil filter clogging; customer must watch their oil lamp carefully. Do not know the real benefits with this application, but it is very convenient Arx-ing with the same intervals as normal oil change, just "fill and forget", no extra costs from oil/filter.

First ever clean I changed filter after 3,000kms. Now I don't. In my Mazda I know when it's time to stop when lifter noise gets bad (blocked PureONE).
I do the same....run clean and rinse cycles for the usual 3k mile OCI's. no changing of filters except at the end of the OCI.
Frank is following this thread, now is the time for some comments on updating the instructions. One of the changes comming is that the whole bottle should be used for a treatment and not to worry about the exact capacity of your crankcase. Since Auto-Rx is safe and does not harm the engine it's more important to make the directions simple.
Never used less than a full bottle in both vehicles.
When the "Group 111 Oils' were introduced the application ratios of Auto-Rx were experimented with and we saw that longer cleaning mileage coupeled with longer rinse miles provided a greater benefit. New applications should be on www.auto-rx.com in a few days.

I never measured on crankcase I used either one bottle or two if it was a sump of 6.5 quarts or larger. I did measure for everything else though.
Ok, SO I have a question then. I do 6 month OCI's and that can vary from 1500-10,000 miles dureing that 6 month OCI. I normaly run synthetic oil year round. I was going to do an Auto-RX cleaning this summer as I do not run conventional oil dureing the winter! Now that some things are changeing with Auto-Rx instructions would it be all right to add it to a GIII synthetic for winter use and leave it in the whole OCI for clean phase? Then come summer put in conventional for the rinse phase? I am willing to comprimise and run a GIII synthetic instead of a G-IV or G-V like I normaly would. I do not want to waste my time and money either.
I always did 2000 miles intervals w/ ARX, but 2500 is a better number to recommend.
I think 2,500 is a good compromise. Personally I do longer in both vehicles but I keep a close eye on both..s
The new instructions have been finalized and will be up on Frank's web site next week. There has been a lot of work done to make sure that knowledge gained from testing and users is reflected in the update application instructions. There will be hints on how to choose an oil and how to get the best out of Auto-Rx for your situation. The delay has been getting the web site updated.

8-31-07 New Auto-Rx Application Instructions will be uploaded to www.auto-rx.com on Saturday 9-1-07. If your need is clean ring packs etc follow the new application. Your engine performance and clean internals will become apparent after Auto-Rx is finished and you step on the gas for the first time.
