Still into the rinse phase of Auto-RX in my wife's Toyota Sienna V6 and my wife commented that she getting about 50 miles more per fill up! Not sure it's auto-RX or the summer blend of gas, but I figure that it added about 2mpg.

my MPG's have gone up 1.5-2.0 since I have installed the A-rx and the PP 10w30. I had ASL in there before the A-RX, so I dont know if it was the oil or the a-rx, or the combo of both.

in my GF's supercharged Xterra there has been no noticable increase at all. ARX installed for 1900 miles.

I will have to change my above statement to 1.0-1.5 increase after reviewing my MPG spread sheet. the ARX has been in the Neon for ~1k miles.

Gas mileage is always higher in the summer gents. No additives required. It's always lowest in the winter due to operating effects of cooler weather and the change in gasoline blend.

Lets see here, summer blend has been at the pumps for at least 5 months. Hooligan 24 has been plotting every tank on his spread sheet so are we to assume that both of these posters had only checked their fuel mileage in the winter? Most likely not.

He is lucky along with some others. I used it in alot more then a few cars and gained nothing in mpg. I changed driving habits and it gained that (above). I know ARX did stop a leak in hot water pressure washer for me.

the only differences that I have had in the last 5 weeks....changed oil from Amsoil ASL to PP with a whole bottle of A-RX, and the weather has got a little cooler in the last couple weeks. Mid August, on my vacation, temps were topping out at 101-102 and now the highs are in the high 70's low 80's. no other maintenance has been done. The car has ~45000 miles. The xterra has ~50000, and I would have thought I would see more benifits from the A-rx on this vehicle. 3.5 quart sump, supercharged V-6, some towing, short commutes, cheap fuel, not maintained as well as it should/could be. Maybe I will get to see the big results during the rinse phases.

The Neons oil after ~1k miles still looks new.
The Xterra's oil after ~2k miles is black.....barely see the metal of the dip-stick black.

after doing the math, since changing the oil on July 30th, fuel mileage is up 1.21 mpg better than the three months previous. no change in commute. I know thats not alot, but its about 15 miles more per fill-up, or 60 extra miles a month, 720 miles a year, ~ $130 in fuel savings per year if it were to stay this way.

You remind me of Shelby, who used to jump to the defense of ARX at every turn. He saw shadows everywhere.

I made a simple statement that is true. Nothing negative was inferred. Why so defensive ?

That dude scared me sometimes! IIRC, wasn't be emailing some poster's employer and asking them if they knew he was posting on bitog on company time?

Rick20 does bring up a valid point. And 50 miles per tank is pretty noticeable. Not saying it's conclusively auto-rx, but just that I've never seen that big an increase in mileage just by switching gas. It's good to bring the possibility up for discussion, though. It IS a discussion board....

I remember him

He wasn't an Auto-Rx groupie ...he was a fanatic.

Hey

..the stuff is a great product that does a great job...but I don't think anyone needs to genuflect as they pass their Auto-Rx shrine.

I've got the same "incredible" issue with Bruce's 0w-10 oil in my Wrangler. The thing (basically a life long diet of 5w-40 HDEO'S ) has ....maaaaybe gotten 20 mpg if you drive it with great care. The typical highway mileage was about the same as her 4.0 w/5speed (auto with the 2.5 4 banger). Around town would be almost in V8 range (12.5-14.5). Now short trip stuff is 16+/- and highway (my wife's commuting cycle of 50 miles a day) is 23+/-. She got 17.5+/- on 5w-40. No one is going to buy this ..but it's repeatable. I need to return to a 5w-40 to see if the mileage retreats to "standard".

I can usually spot a placebo effect a mile away ..but I'm at a loss here when I'm not seeing it in my own "incredible" results. Since coming here, many of the engineer types have taught me to close the doors on speculation as much as possible. That is, answer the sensible objections to your results ..or qualify and acknowledge any "holes" in determining the cause:effect relationship in your suggestive data.

LOL. Yea I guess you're right Brian. Nobody should be compared to Shelby. I think I remember that business about him ratting to someone's employer. He was nuts. Lousy reference on my part.

Lol, no worries. I suppose the amount of increase should also be quantified in mpg since a 50 mile range increase might not be a huge deal depending on the tank....

I had the oil changed on our BMW today after an RX clean phase (5,600kms). Techs could not believe how dirty the oil was after such a short run, and why I wasn't using their M1 0W40 but Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 oil. To hard to explain when they were flat out.

I'm about 600 miles into the rinse phase on my 93 Aerostar with 163,000 miles. The oil still looks clean. None of the odd noises, flashing engine lights or anything out of the ordinary that others have mentioned, at least so far. I plan on repeating the process as per directions for HM cars, but I still have a feeling the engine was clean all along. Which BTW is a good thing!

I'll see if the 1/2 qt of oil I used every 1700 miles or so stops.
