That's because Amsoil is not compatible with Auto-Rx like Redline is.

And BTW, my engine has never run Redline if you read my first post. I state what it has been run with and for how long. Royal Purple has left a mess after 140K miles, just one of the reasons I'm going to Redline.

I am just curious, did Frank tell you it was o.k. to use Redline, or did you come up with this idea, if sprintman, Gary Allan, and John Browning were o.k. with using Redline I would not even be asking this question.
 
I'd follow the directions, then if for some reason there is a problem no one can blame the oil. Directions I read said dino oil, I'd use dino oil, or if I was [censored] bent on using synthetic oil I'd use PP. IIRC they wanted a KISS approach. That sounds reasonable to me, to stick to what the mfg wants for best results. JMO YMMV
 
I came up with the idea based on what I know about the chemistry of them. BuickGN and I both did actually. That's when I emailed Frank on the subject. At first he said he would pass on my question, then he emailed me back that it was a good thing to use the 2. I presume with response came from someone other than Frank in the company because as you read it, it sounds like some one speaking to Frank, not me, then he just forwarded the response.
 
You'd think they'd have this all figured out. Now did he say it would work, or it would work better?

Redline is a one of a kind oil that is very expensive and not in wide use. It's not always possible to cover every possible option in using a product. I'm sure no one has asked them until this point.

Interesting.........Let us know how this works out. I'm from the KISS camp too, and used the cheap oil and filters for my two clean and rinses. Maybe your results will be good!
 
I think it is great that 92GTA is looking into this. I think a lot of times when you are thinking outside the box you will get a lot of resistance (and it should be noted that the resistance is often from a true desire to help). Sometimes the only way to really find out is to try it.

Personally, I have always run auto-rx with group III but I think it would be great if by trying something new we find out that some group V oils (btw, I assume all oils we call group V are actually group V + PAO in differing percentages) are fine to use also.

I found the above posted email from Frank (which I assume originated from the chemist?) to be very interesting as I have not heard anything like this from auto-rx before but I don't follow it that close. Please keep us posted with any observations you have, it's an interesting test IMO.
 
Well the fact that Redline is a Group V that is polyol ester based and NOT PAO is all the difference. Hence why Amsoil will not work but Redline will.

As far as I know, Redline is the only Group V polyol ester base oil, all others are PAO. I admit though I haven't done toooo much research on the subject...

If this is true then RL is truly a better value than Amsoil for me in terms of protecting an engine, keeping it clean, & price.
 
I just find it very odd that someone would want to take an oil like Redline that can go 10,000 miles and use it for a Clean Phase Application that is only 2500 miles, it does not make any sense. I cannot think of anyone who would dream of doing something like this, so is arx now going to come out with an application for oil's like Redline.

I would go with 5000 miles instead of 4000 miles.
 
I might. I was also planning on changing the filter at 1,500 and 3,000 until I drain at 4K or 5K. He also said to use 2 bottles because of my mileage so that's what I ordered. Then during the rinse phase I'll just use straight Redline for probably another 4-5K. Then finally after that they said to add another 5 ounces or so the Redline the final fill after the rinse phase.
