I am starting the cleaning phase of Auto-Rx. But I may also have a coolant leak. Can I do analysis of the oil for water/coolant while Auto-Rx is in the engine?
Yes you can. For the most part ARX is not visible in the oil analysis. There are several UOA on the ARX website, during the cleaning phase, rinse phase, and extended drains with the maintenance dose.
Sure...I tell the lab I have AutoRX in it though...Tell your doctor /lawyer/ and your oil lab everything. Wife and girlfriends are in the maybe category.
No problem at all. One of the UOA in the table of a year's worth of used oil analysis I just posted was taken at the end of an ARX rinse.
I wouldn't bother telling the lab that it's an ARX rinse. The info is of no use to them; they don't what ARX is, they won't do anything any different during the analysis because you've told them.
I did a used oil analysis with arx in Castrol Tection Extra 15W40. I think it was a rinse phase. 2k miles in my SAAB and it had thinned to a 30 weight. I doubt the arx was in anyway responsible for that, just me for trying to run group II in a SAAB.
I did a used oil analysis during AutoRX usage and posted the results a couple years ago. Is a high milage car without regular used oil analysis so while the numbers looked a little high I had no trend to compare too. Put a solid 30K more on the car since though and she still runs quite well at 211K miles on a 95 Roadmaster wagon.
