Well I was 180 miles overdue to drain my ATF, and I finally got a chance today. I didnt get off work until 4 and it gets dark around 5, not to mention it was very windy and 40 degrees. So I extracted the ATF from the dipstick, then dropped the pan. Pulled the filter and then adjusted my rear bands. I am putting in a temp sensor, so I cleaned up the pan and put it on the drill press. I then welded on a 1/8" NPT bung and fitted it with a sending unit. By this time it was dark out and I had to be somewhen in 15 min! So I re-installed the pan torqued to spec, filled up the fluid. It took 5.5 qt, which is exactly half the total capacity. Obviously I didn't have a chance to pull cooler lines and finish the full flush. So my question is should I just run a short OCI? I just don't want to waste a bunch of ATF. I may need to re-adjust my bands, if thats the case ill just do a full flush. The reason I ran ARX is I was experiencing shudder in reverse, the shudder left for a couple hours, but when backing into my driveway it came back slightly! I probably have 3 oz of ARX in should I add 3 more and run 1500 miles, since its fully synthetic ATF and was during the clean phase? Or do you think a full flush would rid of all the junk and get rid of the shudder?

Its a little unclear from your post exaactly what you were doing. Were you already 180 miles over the 1500 miles Auto-Rx ATF phase?

If you had Auto-Rx in the trans prior to your race-car time drop and pan and refill, you need to do a full flush to get all the old ATF out with the stuff Auto-Rx cleaned. In this situation a full flush is best rather than a drain and refill.

If you are using synthetic ATF, then the ONLY cost effective thing to do is a full flush, not multiple drain and refills.

How about a Magnefine. For the $20, might be a good investment.

You want to have 6 ounces of Auto-Rx in there, and run it for 1500 miles. What is the year make and model of your vehicle. Since you put in 3 ounces, go ahead and put the other 3 ounces in.

How did the fluid look when you changed it and do you have an external trans cooler on the car.

sorry for being so unclear. Yes I was 1680mi in before the filter/fluid change. I think I'm just going to perform a full flush and see where that leaves me. I just hate wasting fresh fluids. I do have a magnefine waiting to be installed.

so the following day I performed a full flush as well as readjusting my rear bands and adjusting the front bands. Feels like a completely different transmission. Although I still experienced a little shudder in reverse, but only for a split second one time. Is this normal, should this clear up?

I was shocked at the difference in AT performance after the Auto-Rx and subsequent flush. Made me a total believer. 50k later, shifts like silk with annual drop and drains. 108k.
Hope your results are as good if not better.

I am done with my Auto-Rx treatment in my Camry (200K+) and I do not notice any difference, however the transmission ran great before the treatment. The UOA with roughly 25K on Amsoil ATF said I had high aluminum so I decided to add some Auto-Rx and then flush out all the old fluid which I have now done. The old fluid looked slightly darker red than the new fluid, but not significantly.
