If you are going to use high mileage, true synthetic, synthetic blend or plain dino oil then for initial application of Auto-Rx add 2 ounces per quart of oil (plus 2 oz for filter) and drive 1,500 miles. Drop oil and change filter. For rinse cycle use plain, non-synthetic oil (Dino oil) with no Auto-Rx, drive 2,000-3,000 miles and change oil. Application for engines under 100,000 miles is done. Look at what has drained out of your engine and also know you have reconditioned seals by the rinse mode.

Engine over 100,000 miles: after driving 2,000 miles as per above instructions, keep non-synthetic oil (Dino oil) in use, add second bottle of Auto-Rx, drive 1,000 miles and change oil and change filter. Drive 2,000-3,000 miles with just "Dino" Oil and then dump oil. Auto-Rx application is finished. Engine is clean and ready now for oil of your choice and seals have been reconditioned and leaks stopped

This application is for all engines (Gas-Diesel except 2-stroke) including problems such as sludge, excessive oil burning or smoking.

I think the Maintenance dose unloads the oil adds from dispersing duties, less than cleaning if that makes sense. The liquid filter aspect has not been tested enough for me to address throughly.
While RX has a propensity to clean it also disperses in a inert way. I can't pin down exactly by what process. Does it dissolve the contaminates or does it help carry them to the oil filter and safely hold them, there?
It also seems to form a protective layer around the offending debris and allow it to "slip"safely between rotating/moving parts with NO damage occuring. This is the aspect of the product that other solvents have a really hard time with, even if they are high flash and hang around long enough
to clean and solublize contaminants effectively, they have problems protecting the engine metals from secondary damage after cleaning..... a point forgotten in many discussions here about "in-situ" cleaners.

I probably should have asked this before I ordered Auto RX but anyways...Vehicle is 1982 Chev one ton truck with a sludged up 454. Runs decent, some blow by through the PCV. I'm going to part it out using the drivetrain for different vehicle projects. At best, I'll drive the 454 fifty miles, but it will sit and idle for hours before I pull it. Will the Auto RX do anything to clean it this way? Anything else I can do? Thanks!

Auto-Rx will continue cleaning if engine is running in nuetral or your putting miles on.
Sounds like you will have great amount of time running in nuetral (tell me how many hours and I can compute hours into miles and when you should drain)Auto-Rx will perform. IMO you made a good decision.

Don't see any problem with ARX in your oil for 1 year. I' ve had it in an old firebird for over a year. May be accumulated 900 miles. It was no problem.

59 Vetteman,
Thanks! Yeah, I was going to. But when I saw this new thread up here with Frank's response (he's "The Man," right?), I thought maybe others would be in the same situation & could get their engines cleaning without waiting to finish their current interval.

Rick20,
Thanks for the input. So you had it in for how much over a year? And did you drain it after 900 miles, or is it still in there?

Hi guys,

I've got a different question.

My situation:
I'm currently running Mobil 1 in my 160k mile engine, but the car sees low miles right now & it's going to be another year+ before I dump the oil. I'd like to get the engine cleaned out, but I don't want to create more waste by dumpiing good synthetic.

My question:
Is it OK to run Auto-Rx for 1yr/5k miles with synthetic oil in a low-use engine?

I'm guessing several filter changes & top-ups would be necessary, & maybe some modified dose proportion which would get the engine clean over this long of an interval.

Thanks for any help.

I just drained it out the other day. The oil was pretty dirty, for only 1500 miles. Oil can degrade itself over time as well as over mileage. It was due. It only serves as a back up car for my family. Its for sale if you want it.
