Auto insurance

I moved my cars to State Farm last year. I didn't save any money on the auto policy, but my existing home owner's policy with them dropped by $400 when I moved my cars to them, so I figured it was worth it. Due to the breed of my dog, I'm limited by who will insure my home.

There's never any point in comparing insurance rates. There are over a million variables that the insurance companies use to come up with each person's rates.
Just to clarify with others = no point comparing rates among each other in here.
Always a point to compare rates from other companies with yourself.

USAA quote was almost double what i pay with Geico.
yup, you can get 5 quotes and they will all be different. I bet if you get five more quotes you may be able to find a better price then Geico.
My only point being, once you find a much better price, grab it, at the same time, keep looking for a better price at least twice a year, every year, if and only if your someone who doesnt want to trust your insurance company to never make a profit off you. *LOL*

Insurance companies are not our friends, their job is to extract as much money as they can from your income and give it to their shareholders.
its their fiduciary, legal responsibility to their shareholders not to their customers.

I've been with state farm 10 years.. I check every 1-2 years
but no one has been able to beat my home+car rate by 100$ yet(6month or year rate).. and I'm not going to some no name company for $20

they also have accident forgiveness if you have no accidents with them for 7 or 10 years (I forget) but it was nice when the 2020 elantra got sideswiped to the tune of $6000

and even with video footage was declared at fault for passing when the car that was being passed came left of center to sideswipe.
(no I wasnt driving)

I checked on changing my renter's policy from State Farm to USAA. The USAA was almost 50% more expensive. I guess they don't like hurricane exposure.

geico by far has been the cheapest for me. Under 25 with 1 speeding ticket and 1 accident from a few years ago. Liberty Mutual beat them by about $150/ye but also lacked glass/rental coverage.

Just a word of caution using sites that give you rates with different companies.
When it comes to entering your phone number beware that you will be hounded by insurance agents.
I use an old land line number I had years ago that has never been reassigned to anyone.
So the worst that happens is my e mail gets pounded.

I have a 10 minute phone conversation with my broker once a year. He runs us for about 15-20 companies and applies all the discounts.

This past few years Progressive has been the winner for home and auto. The agent applies more discounts than I could do if buying direct online, and gives better insurance.

I did the opposite and went from State Farm to Progressive and pay for the full year in advance for a big discount too. Like $2,600 a year for car insurance.
