Hi everyone,
I am looking to purchase an 09 A4 2.0 with the 6speed tip/auto.
It uses this spec - Audi/VW Part number G 060 162 A2

Which Maxlife claims comparability with.

We have used Maxlife in all of our cars, domestic and japanses. With zero issues. All performed better than OEM fluid.
Never had a german car though. The OEM is Full Synthetic as well, just wildly expensive per quart.

Just wondering if anyone has an experience using ML in the german VAG cars, any feed back.
Thanks
Nick

If budget is not an issue, I personally will go with Amsoil.

96 & 00 civic with castrol import ATF worked great only a slight jerk when downshifting back to 1st gear.
01 celica gt shifts smooth as butter with castrol import ATF
00 celica gts had a slight jerk with castrol import ATF tried Amsoil now the transmission shifts smooth as butter.

Tried Maxlife in 96 civic last D & R, even with warmer starts it had an annoying jerk through all the gears, fully warmed up still had the same jerks. D & R with Amsoil and it is very smooth...even more so then castrol import ATF. Will do another D & R and get as much of the maxlife out and more Amsoil in.

06 civic with maxlife had no improvement over castrol import ATF or OEM fluid, it has always shifted perfectly since day 1, except while reversing there is a very annoying shake which I can't figure out if it is due to the gear going bad or some transmission mount and if transmission mount then why only reversing? And perfectly smooth in all others gears?

Oh well I hope my experience helps.

I was considering putting Maxlife in my A6 but went with OEM instead. It was more expensive, but it shifts great now. I decided to go with the VAG fluid since my transmission is known to have a weak torque converter and I didn't want to take a chance.

Thanks guys -
Local dealer wants $70/liter for OEM fluid -----yes I typed correctly.....$70
Audi Canada - I do not kno what they are thinking?

And you want to buy a used Audi... why!? A friend had an A4 ... loved it right until the warranty expired... then, after a couple of SILLY expensive repairs, he ditched it...

Be very careful buying used german, and if you can' t budget 1/3 of what you paid for the car for future repairs...yes 1/3 , then walk away...

BMW = Buy More Warranty...

German luxury cars have poor resale value for a reason... and $ 70 liters of ATF are just the start...!

Another source for some of these European OEM fluids is Autopartsway; just go to the Canadian site.

I don't know if Blauparts delivers to Canada, but if they do, I highly recommend them. I got Ravenol DCTF for a fraction of what I would have paid for OEM fluids.

I never had a chance to use Maxlife in any German cars. There just weren't enough customers with German cars that needed a transmission fluid change. We only encountered:
1. A newer car that had very few miles, and only needed tires and maybe an alignment.
2. A car that needed special service equipment. Often this car was a B5, B5.5, or B6 Passat.
3. A very old car with so many problems, that nobody wanted to do anything besides change oil and tires. Usually it was a Beetle, Cabrio, MKIII Jetta, or MKIV Jetta.

Thanks everyone - Valvoline says its ok - but I am not 100% sure yet....
thanks for the input.......I dont really want to change the fluid - just the filter and clean the pan.

That is another thing I like about Blauparts. They will sell you a transmission fluid, transmission filter, transmission gasket, and fill hose in one package, and it can save even more money.

So I have decided to try either Maxlife or Redline D6....Both are listed as matching the Audi spec for this trans.
$70/quart is just too insane for me - and online deals with shipping comes to almost the same as well.
I will make another post for those German car owners out there, on my experiences.
I plan to do 1 filter change- and a D/F every oil change

Thanks to those who offered advice.
Nik
