I just bought an Auburn Gear Pro Series posi diff for my Ranger. Auburn says that I should run 80w-90 GL-5 DINO gear lube with the Ford Friction modifier. This is a "cone clutch" type diff.

My problem is, I just bought a gallon of Mola's 75w-90 syn. gear lube. I was going to install it when I rebuilt my Trac Loc, but now I'm going to be pulling the Trac Loc and installing this new Auburn Pro.

Can I go ahead and run the syn gear lube with this type diff, or should I stick to dino?

Thanks,
Brian

If I should stick to dino, I've got a gallon of Mola's gear lube for sale?????????

The SP gear lube has friction modifers in it and I ran this stuff in a cone-clutch Auburn for years (tested it in a 10-bolt on the '86 Burb) and from the start of installation with no issues.

Is Auburn possibly suggesting a run-in period with dino?

I have an Auburn unit in my Dodge pickup. They recommend that only 80w-90 conventional GL-5 oil and GM or Ford additive be used. They must know something that we don't so I would stick to the manufacturer's advice.
