I didn't know that the Atlas lable was still in use. It was/is (?) the private label for Chevron (and other Standard Oil companies as well). I remember it from my High School days. I have no idea who makes their filters. Generally speaking I would trust most anything that Chevron markets.

I dont know how up to date the following info is but it may be of help.

The following site has the makers of oil filters and other things:

http://www.tourtimemedia.com/fzr/

Click on "Dont be a sucker" on the left to find the info.Keep in mind that he is talking of filters to fit a motorcycle, however, this may hold true for some automotive filters too.

"Delphi makes: ACDelco, Amoco, Atlas , BlueStar, Delkor, Double Eagle, Dura-Power, Ford, Freedom, IntelleGuard, Sams Club, Shell, Western Auto, Advance Auto, International, Dynavolt and dozens of others"

I haven't seen an Atlas filter since the 70's when I worked for Exxon. At the time they were of high quality. I worked at one of the retail outlets that Exxon Co. USA operated and we got a decent amount of product orientation. I can't say how they stack up now in our contemporary market place.

This made me try and remember other oil/brand names ..was Mobil's ..Saxony?? maybe that was the tire brand that they carried.
