ATF+4 Intervals

ATF+4 has always claimed 100k, if I recall. ATF+3 was horrible- the recommendation was the usual "never" under normal service or something like 60k under severe service, but I wound up changing that stuff about every 40k in our old 93 Vision to prevent TC shudder. I'm not sure when +4 replaced +3, but it was probably about the time your car was made and I don't think they officially extended the intervals right away. +4 is far, far more stable (viscosity and oxidation) than +3 so it holds up far better. I know my wife's former 05 PT came with +4 and I never changed it in the 90k we owned that car. I don't know what orifice Chilton pulled 30k out of, but that would be excessive even for +3. Probably just overly cautious because of the bad rep of the early 41TE transmissions and ATF+3 combo.

They always seemed to have some pretty conservative intervals, at least in my view.

I replace a couple quarts of ATF+4 on our 2002 Caravan every other oil change, by sucking it out through the dipstick tube. MUCH LESS MESSY than dropping the pan!

I change the filter every 5 - 6 years...

I have a Chrysler Sebring with the really picky 4 speed suto and found it really likes Redline C+ in place of the +4
Trans runs perfect with that stuff in there.I run Redline in all my cars and have never had any trans issue ever in 30 years. Superior transmission fluid. You can buy it at Jegs with Free Ship!

I just did a pan drop on my 08 T&C w/ 62TE, 90k miles.

I don't think I'd wait much longer than this, the stuff was black.

Man what a mess, and seriously f*ck RTV.
