Since 187k when I acquired my 41TE equipped van, my dad said it's a bad idea to change trans fluid on a trans without knowing the service history. Fast forward to now, it has 238k and I've revived the idea of a pan drop & filter change. Only issue i've had with the trans in my 50k mile ownership is 3rd gear (TC Lockup) has a noticeable slam when going in and out. Fluid colour isn't burnt but it looks worn out, level is OK

If the transmission doesn't have a drain plug, get an aftermarket pan that has one. Refill with Redline C+ which is the best thing to use where ATF+4 is required.

I would surely do a pan drop and filter change on your 41TE. That transmission can be troublesome and affected negatively by worn out fluid.. I would stick strictly to an approved ATF+4 fluid and wouldn't use anything else.
