The wife wanted a honda odyssey, so I got her one. However, I am a little leary of the transmission, after reading horror stories-a-plenty. I purchased a B&M 70268 AT cooler and a B&M 80277 remote AT filter to install. They should be here by the end of the week. Does anyone have experience installing these. What would be the most efficient or easiest set up. I've read up on different options, but wondering what you all have to say, or show. Any diagrams or pics would be helpful. Thanks.

Dont use the little zippy things that mount it to the radiator or condensor. They will wear a hole in the rad or condensor.
We run 2 strips of metal across the core support and mount the cooler to those.

You can do a perfect job by using common sense and not rushing.
I don't know your specifics -each car is different.
When you attach the rubber lines to the cut trans lines, use 2 clamps at each connection [oriented 180 apart] , or maybe the expensive full wrap around ones that are for fuel injection.
Route the lines so they won't touch -and won't touch even when the engine rocks and moves [they do].
Use insulators like foam or felt if you use the tie wraps through the radiator [at the ends].
I would mount the filter low, even if it is harder to get to.
And buy extra filters NOW, while you can get them.

Most auxiliary trans filters are common 3/4-16 thread filters. B&M may use something else, but I don't think that they do.
correct me if i am wrong but the problem with the honda trannnies wasn't cool fluid but lack of lubrication in second and third gear do to an oil supply problem?
i believe they have an oil jet retro fit kit in all new rebuilds. mike

That was the first issue. It merely grenaded the trans before other stuff showed up.
Allegedly the later problems can be traced to pressure sensors (iirc).
Still, there's absolutely no downside to auxiliary cooling and filtration.

i agree there are no downsides . i was just trying to get across if it grenades it wasn't the lack of coolings fault it was engineering.

If it has a cooler in the radiator, having auxiliary filtration will save that if it fails a transmission. That alone is worth it.

We fix or sell about 4-5 radiators a week because those zippy things rubbed holes in the tubes.
Sometimes we can fix em others we cant.

I've seen it done with bolts and big washers. Mostly on street rods where everything is easy access for the most part. The trick is to not have too much weight and have it distributed over enough surface area.
Chris, how many of those "just failed" and how many were faulty installations? That is, loose ..vibrating...etc.?
..but, that said, this is why I bought a "packaged" electric fan conversion from Flex-a-Lite at considerable cost over just slapping a fan on the rad. It uses the OEM shroud mounting points.

Depends on how centered the zippys are. If they are centered between the tubes and don't move then there shouldn't be a problem. But here where 50% of the roads are washboard dirt roads and the paved roads have potholes the size of Conneticut things are going to move eventully.

What year Odyssey did you get? Drain/fills are a snap on them. ~2001-2006 have a replaceable (external) filter on them. 2007+ have a cartridge filter buried in the case. Not a lot of engine bay room, but you should be able to find room behind the front fascia for any auxiliary stuff.
