A local Honda dealer mailed a $25 Christmas gift card couple weeks ago. The only limit is it can not be used for oil change.

I don't need anything for my S2000, first I was thinking about Honda full-syn 0W20 but that dealer doesn't carry GHMO. I went there today and saw on display shelve some Honda manual transmission fluids.

I asked how much, the counter guy looked up computer and said $12.xx a quart. I asked him nicely "Will you give some discount as Christmas gift ?" He said "Let see what can I do for you". After couple minutes he said the best he could do was $7.70/qt. So he gave about $5 discount per quart.

After tax and $25 discount my final cost was $8.19 for 4 quarts Honda MTF.

It's paid to be nice to part counter person, ask nicely then you will have a very good chance to have some discount. Treat people nice they will return same favor.

Of course they do. ALL of them do. They just need to order it in from Honda. They can get it for you next day, latest. Your "nice" parts man just didn't want to take the trouble to order it.

~$7.70 was the going rate when I bought some HG MTF last year.
$12.00/qt?
OTOH, the guy did come down quickly, and with the card, you were out the door for ~$2.00/qt, which is pretty darn good.
