The fact that Valvoline is for sale is not so much the issue as is the reason that this "unidentified source" gave for Valvoline being for sale. This person stated that Ashland was burdened with debt to the point that they were struggling to service that debt. According to Ashlands report, they are not having any issues with servicing their debt. After their quarterly report was issued, market analysts upgraded their stock and the stock price jumped. My thinking is that perhaps someone with inside information tried to drive the stock price down to a bargain rate in anticipation of a price increase after Ashland's report. Just speculation on my part. I could be totally wrong.
