Has anyone not changed the oil filter and overflowed it? I bought a 1991 VW Fox a month ago with 99k. Did the oil change at 100k and have since done about 1000 miles. I live in an apartment complex and it's problematic for me to be doing work on the car with the landlords. Now I know you'll be asking me about the oil filter and that it might be okay if I had a quality filter, but I'm afraid I don't. I'll hopefully be ordering some better filters next time around but when I went to my local store, all they had were those Fram filters

What do you guys think? What could happen?

Get a clean filter before you start.

I don't really think brand matters here.
We've never seen brand of oil filter make an identifiable difference in UOA, except perhaps in the case of BYPASS filters, another topic entirely.
I've never seen anyone overflow their engine due to not changing filter w/ autorx admin, but I've never heard of anyone neglecting to change the filter.
Given the cost of an ARX treatment ($$) versus the cost of a new filter (about what I spent at Burger King on lunch today), I'd go ahead and change the filter.
If you can't change the filter per reccomendations on the AutoRX site, then hold off on using ARX until you can comply.

What could happen? If there's enough crud in your crankcase, the filter media could clog and go into bypass mode. Then all the continuing freed up contaminants would be re-pumped right on past the filter, into the galleys and bearings and everywhere else where you don't want dirt to be. And you'll not even know its happening.

NOT RECOMMENDED.

I used ARX in my car for cleaning cycle.
Looking at the oil at 1500 miles it was suddenly very back from 1200 miles on.
Changing the filter I noticed the oil was gritty everywhere.
Opened up the filter and it was completely clogged.

P.s. - I used a new filter from the start.

If you can't change the filter yourself then just wait until your next oil change when they install a new filter.
