I am currently running my 1st ARX treatment in a 89 Mitsubishi Mighty Max 2.6L 4 cyl motor with 165k.

The problem is that I have had to add 2 qts of make up oil after just 500 miles on the truck. Will the ARX still work with the heavy consumption this truck has? Also is there a way to stop this consumption?

What weight oil you using? I have a similar problem on my truck. Mine has 170k and I just started ARX. My truck burns a quart every 500mi with 5w30. So I use 20w50, this helps reduce oil consumption. My reason for using the ARX is to clean my ring packs, hope it helps with the oil burning.

Changing your oil weight is a double edged sword, might help in one area but hurt in another. You are probably doing more harm at start up with a thicker than recommended oil. A 17 year old 4 cylinder motor has lived a life man. Hard to say what ARX will do, but I have been extending the life of vehicles that were dead and forgotten by using Addiitves (Autorx the main one). Your not fixing something per say, but you're helping squeeze all the life you can out of it.
