I have a 2000 Toyota Rav4 (160k miles, seems to have been abused and neglected mechnically) with a pretty significant oil leak from the timing chain covered which appears to have been replaced in 2007. I'm going to try 2 bottles of LM Motor Oil Saver to see if it can stop or slow down the leak. I am not sure if RTV was used and if LM works on those types of seals. I would like to try Viscoplus as well to see if it can reduce oil consumption.

Is it OK to mix the 2 products?

Viscoplus:

Mono functional additive that stabilizes motor oil viscosity. Provides outstanding protection against mechanical and permanent shear losses in extreme conditions and prevents viscosity loss caused by frequent cold starts.
  • optimum lubrication under all operating conditions
  • optimum oil pressure under all operating conditions
  • reduces oil consumption
  • reduces engine noise
  • minimizes viscosity loss

Motor Oil Saver:

Maintains and regenerates rubber and plastic seals in the engine oil circuit of gas and diesel engines. Oil consumption due to aged and hardened valve stem seals is reduced. No more blue exhaust smoke, improved emissions. External leaks are minimized or even eliminated. Dampens engine noise and reduces repair costs. Reduces pollution and improves the environment.

Use in 4-stroke gas and diesel engines, with or without turbochargers. Miscible with most commercially available motor oils. Safe for use with catalytic converters and particulate filters (GPF/DPF). Not suitable for use with wet clutches! Contents (300 ml) is sufficient for 3–5 Liters (0.7 gal. to 1.1 gal.) motor oil. The product can be added at any time, sealing first takes effect after about 600-800 km (400-500 miles).
  • reduce engine noise
  • maintains and regenerates rubber and plastic seals
  • reduces oil consumption
  • prevents oil leaks and pollution of the environment
  • prevents blue exhaust smoke

I like the LM product line generally speaking, but your situation seems to be calling for a mechanical repair. The car might run a little better with these products, but probably not. With regard to using two at one time, I would suggest using one product per oil change. I think the real solution is to fix that timing chain cover, but not sure how involved a repair that might be.

It's a PITA kind of job and I don't feel like doing this for a 24 year old vehicle. There also appears to be a leak at the rear of the oil pan which I also don't want to R&I, so mechanic in a bottle is the cheapest easiest way here. If it works, great, if it doesn't, I'll just leave a piece of plywood in it's parking space.

Try 40/50 visc. "High mileage" oil.

One word-Maxlife. Way better at stemming leaks and burn off than anything else I've tried. And I DID try the Motor Oil Saver. Didn't do much of anything except up my FCP credits. Deal with the plywood/cardboard if you don't do a proper repair though, "in a bottle" can only do so much.

1 can of the Motor Oil Saver not 2. Yes you can run them both together. Easier at this point to run a thicker oil vs. the Viscoplus.

I would run an SAE 50. I don't know if you have that viscosity, pretty **** thick, lol, even in Egyptian summer (somewhat similar to Florida).
