Congrats on the find and very neat. If I was a young boy again -- I would be all over that river bed -- besides fishing it.
Well to tell the truth I'm not a young boy, 54 , but my wife says I act like big kid . But when I go fishing in the river I put on waders and usually take a few minutes to see if anything on the banks has been exposed. I get some real nice northern pike and small mouth bass in the river .Congrats on the find and very neat. If I was a young boy again -- I would be all over that river bed -- besides fishing it.
I hear you, I am 52 and my wife says the same thing -- Lol. When I was a kid growing up there was a AAA rated Pennsylvania trout stream/creek called Haycreek. Myself and friends my age would build dams, look for crayfish -- have crayfish battles and of course fish the heck out of it that was stocked multiple times a year by the Game Commission. Awesome memories and I would never change a thing. Happy for you having the property with the river flowing through it. As long as the river stays away from the house -- you are blessed!!!!Well to tell the truth I'm not a young boy, 54 , but my wife says I act like big kid . Oh that would be a real bad ending for sure! How would you like to get that along side your head . It looks like a weapon more than a tool to me .
More likely a descendant of the maker. An ancestor of the maker will be knocking on your door any moment now to claim it since you posted it.
Bushel baskets ! An a expert and a hoarder. In my area there was a tribe known as the Susquehanock. They lived along the Susquehanna river. Father of my friend was a bit of an expert on them. He used to spend his free time excavating arrow heads and such. He had a room full of bushel baskets of arrow heads. One day I was on the river bank with my son. He looked down and picked up a stone ax head. I will look for that and post it if I find it.
Yeah alot of pirates and other people didn't die from the surgery but from the infection afterwards.Very neat find! Thanks for sharing.
Side note: These folks must of been pretty hardy. I mean how many slips of that rock just to nab the thumb or something. No hospital just grin & bear it. Civilized society has it's downfalls but I'd say we're pretty lucky to be born in our time.
View attachment 262641My grandpa found this on the family farm. They were unloading gravel dug out of the creek to put in a barn lot/corral area.
