Arrowhead found on my property this fall , just thought I'd share

Congrats on the find and very neat. If I was a young boy again -- I would be all over that river bed -- besides fishing it.
Well to tell the truth I'm not a young boy, 54 , but my wife says I act like big kid . But when I go fishing in the river I put on waders and usually take a few minutes to see if anything on the banks has been exposed. I get some real nice northern pike and small mouth bass in the river .

I hear you, I am 52 and my wife says the same thing -- Lol. When I was a kid growing up there was a AAA rated Pennsylvania trout stream/creek called Haycreek. Myself and friends my age would build dams, look for crayfish -- have crayfish battles and of course fish the heck out of it that was stocked multiple times a year by the Game Commission. Awesome memories and I would never change a thing. Happy for you having the property with the river flowing through it. As long as the river stays away from the house -- you are blessed!!!!

That's a good one. I always go searching when the earth is up ended when a new housing development starts.

In my area there was a tribe known as the Susquehanock. They lived along the Susquehanna river. Father of my friend was a bit of an expert on them. He used to spend his free time excavating arrow heads and such. He had a room full of bushel baskets of arrow heads. One day I was on the river bank with my son. He looked down and picked up a stone ax head. I will look for that and post it if I find it.

Bushel baskets ! An a expert and a hoarder.

Very neat find! Thanks for sharing.
Side note: These folks must of been pretty hardy. I mean how many slips of that rock just to nab the thumb or something. No hospital just grin & bear it. Civilized society has it's downfalls but I'd say we're pretty lucky to be born in our time.
Yeah alot of pirates and other people didn't die from the surgery but from the infection afterwards.

I dug this up in my garden in NJ about 50 years ago, about 1/3 mile from the Raritan Bay. It was about 10" down where the soil turned from brown to a yellowish sand. It was dated by an expert on the Lenni Lenape Indians as 6,000 to 8,000 years old. Because it lacks a sharp edge and fits the hand so well, I believe it was used for grinding corn as opposed to a weapon.
