Army’s nuclear comeback

I wouldn't be surprised if the local leader is funded by the Russians. Having Europe run on anything other than Russian Gaz is a threat to the Putins income, of which supposedly makes up between 25%-50% of the Kremlin's budget.

It would be standard ruski SOP to wage these campaigns to secure their income. This likely happened in Canada with the pipeline protests and here in the US as well. I'm sure Greta is on the payroll or at least a psyop from the Russians and Qataris as well.😆
Yup, just like with the Palestine stuff. Arafat was a KGB asset. Russia funding terrorists while rebranding them as "freedom fighters" and pushing the David/Goliath oppressor/oppressed dichotomy has been a key plank in this extremely successful distract/destabilize campaign. It has been incredibly easy to trigger western suicidal empaths who gladly cheer for the downfall of their own society, and weaponize them against everything that has enabled their existence, even having them lining up to be useful idiots for a movement that would gladly kill every one of them once their utility runs out.

I'd be careful with that. Arafat is no more an asset to the KGB than Bin Laden and MS13 was an asset to us. Friends today, enemies tomorrow. Biggest difference is what happened to that parcel of land after Britain decided who owned what.

It should be reminded when Israel decided to attack our warships and nothing happened in retaliation.

Well said! These external forces must be dealt with in someway. Better laws, more thorough investigations, and strong law enforcement is the way.

Wouldn't be surprised if people on our side knew this as well. We won't know for a long time, if ever.

I've heard of reports where our military wanted to burn poppy fields in Afghanistan for some reason, IIRC to remove cover from hiding snipers maybe? They were told not to. There are likely immoral people within that are making $$$ of off MS13 etc and the drug trade. Hopefully this will change soon, we just blew up another drug smuggling boat in the gulf.

Arafat was key in pushing for a "Palestinian" identity, something that didn't exist prior to his involvement, and was a key element in fabricating this oppressor/oppressed dichotomy. And yes, the US has had similar involvements with shady figures with these proxy activities that have been going on in the middle east. From what I recall, Bin Laden was involved with the CIA, which would likely have made him a CIA asset for a time.

The partition plan for the mandate post-WW2 was not accepted by the neighbouring Arab states, as I'm sure you are aware, so despite much of the land being legitimately purchased by displaced Jews (particularly around Tel Aviv), we ended up with the Arab Israeli war, which of course the Arab nations lost. From that point, until Arafat's successful rebranding campaign, perspective was that this was a conflict between Arabs and Israelis (and I won't specifically spell out the R part, but we know that's a key component). Post re-branding, with the creation of a "Palestinian" identity, this manufactured a "victim" of Western imperialism, a narrative that has now even shifted to "colonialism", where advocates intentionally ignore the conquests that eventually led to the Crusades and other conflicts to push back the borders of an area dominated by a singular political/religious doctrine focused on global domination to where they are now, which was of course colonialism manifest at a grand scale.

If you are talking about the USS Liberty incident, Israel apologized for it, as they thought it was an Egyptian ship. Both the US and the Israelis investigated and concluded that it was a mistake due to false identification. Israel also paid reparations for the incident.

He's talking about the USS Liberty.

Doesn't have to be Russian.

We have a lot of oil interest, everyone has a lot of oil interest maybe except India and China. Follow who is researching nuke and who is banning them and you will find out who is making money from where.

About the Middle East politics: I don't like anyone there, and they all know what they are getting themselves into.

The US still has no policy on nuclear waste. Nuclear power cannot be considered sustainable without taking care of the spent fuel waste.
Since you appear to be so "concerned" about it, please answer these two simple questions:

- How much high level nuclear waste exists in the US?*

- Where is it located?

If you're so "concerned" they should be a slam dunk to answer.

* Note that we are talking within the context of this thread: civilian nuclear power plant operation - not nuclear weapons production and/or waste.

Here's how much and where. Not specific on all the 90 some odd sites, but one or more is probably not far from you. Pretty easy to google or duck-duck up the answer.
Elected officials oppose it their states, so it sits locally in every state.

Ever hear about SL-1?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SL-1
1966 Palomares B-52 crash?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1966_Palomares_incident

Stick a bullseye on the building, every loony tune and terrorist is going to be wondering how to pierce the building, creating a dirty bomb…

Army is still fighting the cold and wet in Germany, vehicles are painted dark green instead of tan, most lack air conditioning from the factory…
Uniforms have dark patches, and are thick and heavy…

Solar panels are quieter, compartmentalized, can be pieced together,
(two to four panels gets you 96 volts DC, plug that into a DC to AC converter, easy to repair battle damage)
Supply trail is less, troops needed to maintain are fewer, and need less training..

There are approximately 20,000 truckloads of high level nuclear waste in the US…

Now do the math…

Yucca mountain could process 3 a day, 1000 a year, 20 years to complete…

Train with 80 cars, once a week, 4000 a year, 5 years to complete…

Trucks or train would have to pass through three to five major cities, with 100-200 soldiers guarding it…

The question wasn't for me - or you. It was for the person who supposedly is so "concerned".

And the answers are not "blah-blah-blah" e.g. your links. Simple questions - simple answers.

We ship nuclear material all over the place without soldiers guarding it, FWIW. Cameco here in Ontario regularly ships uranium hexafluoride to the US for enrichment:

We move around spent fuel bundles for testing and of course fresh fuel is shipped all over the US. Spent fuel is shipped from all over Europe and Japan to France for reprocessing.

Trains are preferable to truck for transport to a DGR, due to the volume, but I know with our site selection process, and lack of rail infrastructure at the plants currently, that has us looking at trucking it (which is how it's currently moved) at least for a segment of the journey.

How come I get the feeling it’s got more to do with AI centers popping out everywhere than with providing power to the “people”? 🤔
Some of the discussion has centered around providing local power for data centers. The companies are saying they can provide local power and not disturb the existing area grid. The data center construction is already way ahead of getting local mini nuke plants approved and running though. How much is PR by companies wanting to construct data centers and marketing by companies wanting to sell mini reactors looking for a reason to be? I mean, none of these have really been proven yet. A first article running in Canada is what I read the Air Force is basing their contracting decision on.
How many people are going to want these mini plants in their area?
