The discussion of the technology and the sciences is allowable and interesting. The Politics need to stay out of it. (those whom inject P will find themselves on vacation ...) Keep it on the rails and we'll allow the thread to continue.

Well when it comes to power generation the entire process from the govt sanctioned monopoly status to the permitting stage all the way to the govt sanctioned allowable rates IS political.

Don't worry, I was in tune with what you were saying, I was just pointing out that fission is also a part of that process. Fusion is possible. The issue is whether it will ever be practical/affordable outside a lab. Fission is, in comparison, quite simple. With a breeder, the issue of "waste" ceases to exist as well.

Fusion occurs within the sun because of density. A fusion reactor would end up creating waste material that is so dense that it would destabilize the earths orbit and we'd crash into Mars !! I promise...
