Arizona Black Rattlesnake!

Before we were married my wife's Dalmation was killed by a banded krait in her yard. The dog got between her and the krait. That same farmhouse is where we are going to retire to. She said we have to get a snake dog as there are still cobras, kraits, and venomous grass snakes in the farm fields surrounding the house. Cobras commonly grow to 17 feet long and like to eat cats by the way.

I have to disagree with the don't kill a poisonous snake crowd. Those snakes are dangerous.
Very few snakes are poisonous. Keelback and some garter snakes. The one in OP and the ones people are posting about are NOT poisonous.

Okay so poisonous isn't the correct word.

From calpoison.org :
A venomous animal has defense mechanisms, like fangs or a stinger, used to inject a toxin into another organism. This animal bites or stings to deliver its venom to defend itself from harm.

A poisonous animal secretes poison from its body. This animal's poison has to be inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through the skin by another organism to expose that organism to its poison.
