You must be REALLY old. Over 80?
NAhh. We had Milk bottle in New Jersey and Tewksbury in the late Fifties and early sixties.

I forget when lunch milk cartons came out in the North East maybe 1964? Brox Dairy.

I am signing up for Social Security benefits in a couple months though, lol

So really not an age thing, more of a regional thing. I was in Kindergarten, ~1963-64. Cartons only. 0.04$. Then 0.05$.

I took my first SS beni deposit just two weeks ago. A little early. Got tired of waiting more than anything, will just stash the cash, plus little other income from here out. Well a small pension and a decent Amsoil autodeposit. Been living on muni bond interest, which is nice.

Pretty much all of them. But don't ever bad mouth Push-up pops, those orange (best) or chocolate (good) beauties were the best on a hot day.

Goulash was great. Casseroles were king back in those days. Filling and cheap plus easy to make.

A Fricassee was good too.
There were a lot of BAD casseroles too. Church potluck was always really hot or miss.

When I was young we used one just like this.

Those remind me of folks having to open beer cans with an opener. No pop tops back then.

Maybe someone can help remember the soda pop situation? Dont ever recall opening a can of soda with an opener. I wonder now is it because , there was a time when all the soda machines had the hard bottles and an opener on the door. My memory fails me but is it possible sodas were not in cans until the pop tops came out?
We used to roam streets all week in summers. We would constantly turn in soda bottles for the deposits and split the money. Each of us thought we were rich/king for the day with our hand full of coins that amounted to between two n half to three or four bucks.
First things we did was hit the vending machines and start the candy / soda orgy all over again. Sodas were about 10¢ to 15¢. Candy about the same , maybe a nickle less. Of course all of us were sick like dogs later that day.

Wooof! All of them been in my life at some point. Some actually still around.
Item #3 - That strange 1970s flooring. We were in this house over ten years when we ripped out all the carpets to install some light colored 14"x14" ceramic tiles. To our surprise , previous owners covered that floor with new carpet when we bought the house.

I can think of a few things that will age a guy very quickly.

terrible eating habits
lack of physical exercise
alcohol abuse
bad stress
teenage daughters (Should probably be number one on the list)

My parents didn't let me drink soda pop during that time - although I did sneak a yoohoo once in a while.

Cool-aid and then Tang was pretty big. And Chocolate Milk with Bosco or Hershey syrup.

I did have to look this up. the pop top was invented and in place in the early sixties. I forgot they used to peel all the way off in the first version(!) But research documented that soda pop was in cans requiring a can opener. I always remember returnable bottles. Now I just remembered my bother worked in sales for Continental Can. But he is asleep out West in AZ right now; and he would have been working after the pull tab "revolution"

p.s.: Funny thing Beer was offered in can like Dot3 Brake fluid but with a clenched bottle top.
I can see where that could be a BIG problem in a working garage!

Never knew that!
