It Likes to Eat Starters(3 in the last 50k mi), A/C Compressor went pear shaped a couple summers back, at some point it's gonna need a new ECU...
But she still Chooches..

Why do you think it needs a new ecu? I know there was a recall on the 05 Matrix for that. So took it into the dealer to have that taken care of. The 03 was the first year for the Vibe. That current generation went until 08 and those have very few issues. So if your friend wants to upgrade to something for cheap it maybe the way to go. The 03 gets the clunker designation while the 08 gets the Awesome seal on https://www.carcomplaints.com/Pontiac/Vibe/

a mechanic he took it to said something about it a while back, don't still have the texts,to have all the deets, switched phones since then...

Since May of 04. Camry V6 runs as good as the day I drove it home. Now that I have said that, the wife will tell me tomorrow AM after she comes home from Y that the check engine light came on. Won't surprise me at all.

Still driving 1996 Dodge V10 2500 with 110,000 miles and 1999 Subaru with 250,000 miles. Never had any real problems with either one. Thinking about selling the Subaru when it reaches 300,000 miles.

Been driving the 96 mustang since 2002, bought it used with 70k, I have replaced a lot of coolant related parts because I neglected the coolant, never changed it until I started having leaks). No engine or transmission work.
Been driving my van since 2011, bought it used with 135k, it has almost 225 now, have replaced the radiator.

I still have the same 3 cars as in 2010... in fact since 2003.
1995 Mercedes E320 cabriolet
2001 Mercury Sable
1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible

Yes, most of them.

1970 Monte Carlo- owned since 1987
1998 K1500- Bought new in 1998 now has 136,000 miles.
1992 Cavalier- Bought in 2006 with 76,000 miles and now 226,000 miles
1998 K3500- Bought in 2007 with 94,000 miles and now 115,000 miles.
1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle- Grandfather's car he gave me in 2007 but doesn't run.
2014 Mustang GT- Bought new in 2013 and now has 27,000 miles.

I tend to keep vehicles a long time.

My daily driver is the same since 2005. I bought that Echo new and the only unexpected non-maintenance repair was a set of bushings.
My pickup I have since 2010 too, but bought used. Repairs are cheap, but occur much more often.

Yes
Bought the Galant new in 09.
Now has 85000 miles and runs great, everything's original except usual stuff, brakes, oil, wipers, filters.
Never a problem
Great 2.4 engine doesn't use a drop of oil between changes.

Not anymore: Sold the '08 Yaris and '04 Elantra.
Reasons:
-utility, space, sliding doors (hence the Mazda5)
-boredom, utility (hence the GSW)

Yep, the Corolla. Just tires, oil, ATF.

...seriously, even my brakes are from the factory and I have almost 235K miles on it. Just unbelievably, boringly, reliable.

My other cars were acquired after 2010...but are older than 2010.

We have the car we acquired in 2009 still in the fleet, a 2010 Nissan Altima with 172k miles on the clock. Just got rid of the 2002 acquisition in Oct 2016. Everything else has been acquired POST 2010.
