Are these Roaches?

You know those big ropes used to secure a warship at the pier? Guess how the bugs get onboard?
Rat guards have been used on mooring lines for a very long time. Of course, rats are expert swimmers and climbers so they may find a way. Bugs are more dufficult to keep out. All it takes is a few eggs to make it aboard and it's like what happened on the Nostromo and on LV-426.

"That's it, man. Game over, man. Game over."

Whew. I can't add anything of much relevance. In my own case, I accept critters as a normal part of my life. I attempt to keep some of them out of my home, especially rodents and other ones that are true threats. The others I somewhat tolerate.

The idea of totally eradicating them vs. managing them is questionable. That's how they develop resistance and become super pests. I guess all I can armchair quarterback is to suggest studying the principles of IPM in every aspect thoroughly and attack the battle with multiple weapons. Good luck, and avoid those earwigs that dig into you ear canal and burrow into your brain, LOL.

Despite regular outdoor perimeter sprays since this original post, the roaches came back with a vengeance last month. I even saw 2 run across the garage floor.

So, I performed a perimeter spray using FMC’s Scion and within 24 hours, over 20 dead ones appeared.

Here’s the question: is there any way to prevent this issue from coming back every spring? I lived there for over 18 years and this has only become an issue in the last 1-2 years.
How long are these? I use a 12 month perimeter spray every year.

Why can’t you spray the concrete? If there are hundreds/thousands of roaches out there, I’m spraying every crack and crevice of that concrete. All of it.

Based on the label (which matches CA DPR guidelines), you cannot apply to impervious surfaces (aka concrete) due to the potential for run-off. You are limited to crack/crevice only. The backyard is all concrete - there are very few cracks/crevices, so you cannot do a "broadcast application" over the entire backyard.

1-3 month residual. The 12 month advertisement is a gimmick, fundamentally it is not possible to have true 12 month control of all labeled pests with one treatment.

I occasionally spread Spectracide Triazicide around the yard.

I've had a very difficult time stopping spiders and centipedes getting into my poured concrete foundation basement. This spring I sprayed diatomaceous earth on all sill plates, around the electric ingress and on top of the gas water heater (do they come down the chimney?), and haven't seen any yet.
