yeah, it has it own number. the provider simply forwards the call or text to the watch number.
Times is reasonably priced; Casio, Seiko, and Citizen as well. Rolex is a nice luxury but not necessary.

That's two devices which almost always equals two bills.
So someone calling your cell rings your watch, but does an outbound all from the watch show up as known if my phone has your cell number in it?
Or do I have to associate the inbound call to you before I can see who it is thats calling me from this number I wouldnt otherwise recognize?
The Apple cell phone watch plan with ATT, TMobile or Verizon has its own phone number tied to your regular cell phone account

Yes, the watch is connected to your apple or Google account so it will know as long as the contacts are in your address book.
Similar to a phone, it does require its own phone number for mobile data. It will also work on wifi without a data plan but you are limited to known wifi spots then.
when i call someone my phone number shows up. I dont know how it works, it just works. and yes it is more expensive. thats tims fault. if steve was still in charge he would have forced at&t to give the option of it being a standalone device.

If you don’t care about using your Apple Watch independent from your phone, you can buy the Apple Watch without the cell unit and simply pair it with your phone
Yes, your address book is saved on your account. When you login to your watch with your Google or iCloud account, it will import your address book.
Edit: unless you mean I'm calling you via my smart watch (that has its own dedicated number) and your phone knowing that it's me? If so, I'm not sure how that is. I don't have one but I need to know some of the ins/out of it for work.

By the way, I just confirmed with my son who happens to have the Apple Watch with the built-in cell unit. When it is with your phone if somebody calls your phone, your watch will also ring if you don’t have your phone with you and they called the Watch phone number the the watch will also ring. Meaning independently of not having the phone with you.
I never heard that word used, but Apple watches come with a magnetic charger.
Every one to two days at the most I drop the watch on the magnetic charger before I go to take a shower and when I come out, it’s charged up.
Just like any lithium battery sometimes I try to catch it before it’s 100% charged and I prefer to at 80% but that doesn’t always work by the time I get out of the shower
The watch is also waterproof though almost all the time I tend to take it off before swimming, but if you’re just going in a pool and not diving down deep, it’s fine.
If I remember correctly, it will even time your swimming laps

True. I have over a dozen of watches I've collected over the years. All of them tell 'time" and being a simple person, that is pretty much all I need them for.
Having noted that.... These new "wrist computers" intrigue me for convenience sake. In my line of work, I need to effectively communicate while away from my phone.
Having a messaging option allows me to continue working without interruption etc. So yeah, not necessary, but a "tool" nevertheless.
Well, basically... Convenience. I'm one of those people that considers a modern phone a necessary evil. I don't like carrying it around much. I have it because I HAVE to have it. Being able to glance at a watch face and ascertain the degree of response I need to have seems like a no-brainer to me. Personally, I'd rather just wear a regular watch so I can tell the time. Call me Old School. That's why I started this thread.... I wanted to know if these darn "wrist computers" were worth having for communication purposes.
