About two weeks ago I got a call from my Mom saying my younger brother was found unconscious in his apartment in a pool of blood. A friend of his found him and called 911. He ended up in the general hospital in the ICU in a coma and has been that way ever since this happened. The doctor thinks he had some kind of seizure and fell and hit his head causing major blunt force trauma. They had to relieve pressure off his brain because of it.

I just got an email today from my Mom on his latest status ... see below. This is a terrible situation and has been stressful for everyone, especially for my parents if they have to make the decision to disconnect him from life support.

I believe in the power of prayer ... and have been praying about this lately. I hope he can pull out of this!

The surgeon called me late today and said there is no change only a slight improvement. He opens his eyes but does not move them or show any recognition to anything and then closes then again. He is still in critical condition and had a breathing tube directly inserted into his lungs and has a feeding tube through his I believe nose (not sure). He wants my permission for him to do a trekconomy (spelling) in the front of his neck under his chin for breathing and put the feeding tube in his stomach as there is less of a chance for infection. There has been a very small improvement and the doctor said he would never be independent and with brain injury you never know. His only brain activity is when he opens his eyes and closes them again. When they stimulate an area of his body he will move or jerk but that is all.

He said I need to think about what I want done with him for the near future. Please pass this information on to your dad and ask him how he feel about this and he needs to decide what should be done also. I can't do this decision without considering him. I feel this is all on my shoulders and it has been very hard on me and hard to wrap my mind on all this. I know it would be too much to ask him if he would split the burial costs if it comes to that.

Wow. Just wow... Terrible.

Did they have any idea how long he was laying there? Glad he was found.

So sorry to read this, definitely in our prayers.

Sorry to hear about this my friend. Ask for help from God and your higher self about what decisions to make........and trust them.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

JHZR2 - They think he was lying there about an hour. By the time he got to the hospital there was already a lot of brain pressure and they had to do surgery right away to relieve the pressure.

Thanks for the prayers, and also rk1407. I'm sure it's very hard for a parent or anyone else to make the decision to let someone go. I've been talking to my Mom about it to help her with the stress as much as I can.

I've prayed over bad situations before, and I do firmly believe in the power of prayer.

His name is Brain. Thank you guys.

I need to call my Dad this weekend and discuss this latest status with him. Last time I talked to him he sounded pretty stressed out. I'm afraid if Brian doesn't come to or improve some in the next few weeks the doctor is going to ask if he can take him off life support. I really don't want that day to come.

Very sad to hear. Brian and your family are in my prayers. I wish you and your family well during this time of hardship. We're here for ya! It seems your brother hasn't given up hope and neither should you!

Zee; you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers. Awful thing to happen, but there is always hope and faith helps us hold onto the hope.

"Trust in the Lord...with all your heart
and lean not to your own understanding.
IN ALL YOUR WAY ACKNOWLEDGE HIM...
AND HE WILL DIRECT YOUR PATH (and thinking).

Continue to ask HIM for wisdom...in dificult decisions like this.

I have..and will continue to pray for Brian, you and your family, and ask HIM to give you wisdom. Don't rush, but wait on HIS direction.
