Are propane fueled cars still a thing?

A company I worked for in the eighties had about a dozen Chevy 1/2 tons, and a few S-10’s all on propane. Several of the higher mileage ones had a dead miss; I assumed from burnt exhaust valves caused by the hotter burning propane.

Years ago there was some tax incentive to be dual fuel which led to sham conversions with a one gallon propane tank that was never used.

I think that gaseous fueled vehicles are now considered generally safe enough to allow in tunnels. RVs carrying propane must have the tank valves closed before entering a tunnel.

In BC, a safety officer on a Ferry will visit each RV on the Ferry and make sure the valve on the RV propane tank is closed.
