Are Bosch premium same as P1?

Isomeone correct me if I recall wrongly, Did I read some time ago that Bosch premium filter is the same as pureone but just in a different textured can? Are they both made by champ labs?

My application would be the pl14610 vs the 3323 used in many Japanese branded vehicles.

I just got a couple from the O'Reilly PP special. It sure looks the same as a P1 except for the textured exterior. Obviously made by Purolator to Bosch spec. No idea if the media is the same but the box says 99.9% efficient at 20 microns.

My Bosch says 99% efficient at 20 micron while P1 is 99.9% at 40 micron.
Outside texture is different but the outer end cap and adbv are both silicone. Outer end cap inlet holes and crimping points look identical but Inner end cap design looks a little different though.

Just my observations.

Sorry, I just rechecked the box. On Bosch's website it states 99% efficiency @ 20 micron. On the box it says 99.9% but there is no mention of micron size. My bad.

I would think it would be made on the same line. Just different outers. I just wanted to make sure it's not equivalent to the pure classic as the Bosch is the least of the so called premium line.

The color of the media looks like P1, richer yellow I think compared to Classic media.

Really?!? I know it is less used by BITOGers than other mid-premium filters (same category as P1, Fram TG, M1, etc.), buy would not consider it "the least". True, it does not stand up to FU, Mobil 1 Extended Performance, or Purolator Synthetic, but that is where the Bosch Distance+ comes in and holds its own. There is a lower tier Bosch filter that is probably equivalent to the Purolator Classic, but the normally available Bosch Premium is definitely superior.

Actually it is functionally identical to the P1-except for the MUCH stronger outer can (which makes it my go-to filter for my Mercruiser 350 boat engine (3322), and also on the Jeep (3500) for extra rust and rock protection.

All I use are the Bosch Premiums and have been happy with them. I run Mobil 1 at 5-7k mile intervals so there is no need for a M1, Distance+ or other "more premium" filter for my applications. Knowing that the Bosch may be the same internally as the Purolator may allow me to shop by price now.

Best information on this board says that with the exception of the can and sealing gasket, they are the same. Bosch tends to be more vague with published efficiency, but member river_rat's filtration comparison testing gave the best evidence that they are the same inside, ie., media. His results have proven to be very accurate over time, and even predictive in two cases with Motorcraft and Toyota filter efficiency. Generally speaking though P1 can be obtained at a lower price point, especially by using AAP codes.

Bosch advertises Filtech media for the Premiums. Nice filter. I am using my first Bosch filter on my Cherokee right now. I am satisfied with it. No startup noise or dry starts.
