I've been suffering from arch pain (plantar fasciitis) for awhile now (from my running days!), and after doing research and speaking to a doctor, the best course of action is to get some arch supports for the boots I always wear.

Wouldn't they slip and slide around in your shoe though? Do they just go right on top of the insole already in there?

I can't speak for Dr. Scholls...but I used to suffer from bipartite metatarsal sesamoidal joint issues - nasty a$$ stuff- the Docs thought I had gout!!!

They tried almost everything (Including Vioxx, which did kill the irritation btw) - anyhow the 3rd doc sent me to a specialist and he sent me to a sports med guy, they watched me walk, etc took a cast of my feet bottoms, and had some custom inserts made. Problem cured. I use them in almost all my shoes, but I also use another brand made locally (name escapes me right now) - any how the inserts are the cure!!!

easy! supports and insoles aren't covered by insurance!

My son had similar problem (basketball and soccer), took him to a podiatrist. He sent us to a place specializing in running equiptment for inserts made by a company called Powerstep.$25 a pair. They replace the insoles that come with the shoes and can be trimmed to fit. He thought they helped a lot.

i've used the dr. scholls inserts and they were fine.

they aren't they best, but they work ok. as much walking as i do, they only last 6 mos or so.

custom inserts are best.

i've got some orthotics; they help somewhat. my problem is in the ankle, so the tilt of my foot is critical.

the ankle brace helps more.

I don't know all the terminology - and I don't know what is covered or not, but my insurance paid for the custom made units.

The next best fit for me is Superfeet (that's the name that I couldn't think of). They fit nice, too.

Honestly - my feet pain is why I lost 40 pounds, but the inserts keep the pain away and allow me to run, jump and generally act the fool. I even used to have heel pain, but that seemed to only occur when I was fat.
