50 yards is the proper sight in for AR-15's for most defensive uses. That puts the bullet within 2 inches of the line of sight all the way out to 225 yards or so. If you sight in at 25 yards you will be 9 inches high at 200 yards.
This is the preferred way to mount an Eotech
It might be the worst but it works
. The forward mount doesn't fit my carry handle just right, otherwise I could use my iron sights too (like you can with an Aimpoint)
Remove the thumb-screw and back to iron sights. Any home defense I do will be at 100 feet or less.
