No.will API SQ use mPAO?
Yes, I've been in our local Walmart recently looking and all the oils are still SP rated. I'm not quite ready for an oil change so I'll wait it out for a bit.The Pennzoil Platinum I bought at Walmart on May 5 bears a printed date of "05APr 25." and doesn't claim to meet SQ. A few days after I bought it, Walmart reduced the price.
I think the ESP line already meets SQ/SQ engine test requirements.SQ, SQ+.... I'm all for it if that leads to further price discounts on oils like M1 ESP![]()
I’ve heard it’s minor also from others. Witness M1 FS 0W-40 showing up with it after being one of the last oils to have SP. Probably already exceeded all requirements.Afton is one of the big 3 additive suppliers and they don’t appear to agree.

You do realize it’s almost the same viscosity since you’re comparing a 3.5 HTHS oil to a 3.6 HTHS oil, right? Not saying you need to switch as the ESP 0W-30 is excellent, but the gap between Euro 30 and 40 is small.Nah, I personally don't run 40 grade oil while tried it in my cars, absolutely no need to,
Bought two jugs of M1 ESP 0w-30 last night while it's on sale.
It includes panel cleaner anti-streaking now, so your ok.How will SQ help my twin solar turbo Mitsubishi Sport?
SQ versus VW , MB , BMW Euro spec oil ?I think the ESP line already meets SQ/SQ engine test requirements.
I do like C3/C2 oils and when tried 40 grade engines seem to be less responsive and ran hotter. Temp gauge showed same temp thou. You do realize it’s almost the same viscosity since you’re comparing a 3.5 HTHS oil to a 3.6 HTHS oil, right? The ONLY aspect of the continued 0.9% sulfated aah threshold that Anita mentions is Gasoline Particulate Filter durability.I noticed the Castrol Edge EP was SQ, along with Havoline, Shell Helix Ultra, and a few others.

From what I've been observing in prices of oils locally and on Amazon, many many are being discounted. I think this is in anticipation of the bulk release of SQ oils across the board. I know Valvoline has had some huge discounts of oil on Amazon, especially from the Extended Protection line.
Looks like SQ will roll out 0w8 and 0w12 oil approvals, along with better fuel economy, LSPI protection, engine cleaning improvements, and an increase in baseline engine protection.
Here's an article from Chevron talking about SQ oil.
